Was walking past the Replay on Albert Street today after lunch and noticed this guy just getting into the seat of this new driving game (can't remember the name, one of those Jap Doriftor games). He had this big bag of tokens and everything, had a smug *oh-i'm-so-tough* look on his face, cap and sunnies, and... *wait for it* CUT-OFF DRIVING GLOVES! I mean, like you know Mad-max style half-finger driving gloves???

Stopped to watch him for a bit, I thought "Hmm, what's with the driving gloves??? Maybe he's like a serious gamer or something", and there he went, playing BEGINNER mode, trying to drift through the corners and everytime he passed the opponent (again cause he got passed 30 seconds ago after he hit a car/wall/kerb etc) he'd look around and look smug, as if trying to check if anyone saw it...

So... Sad.

/me swings his keyboard around his head

I think I will have the arrow keys on my keyboard converted for use in my car :)

The U.S. Army rigged PS2 controllers to a lot of their vehicles, (Tanks / Trucks etc) ended up killing some of their own people in an exercise apparently..

Haha, maybe I should go borrow a racesuit (Rob?) and bring my helmet and gloves and poofterboots into Replay and play Daytona all day in full gear :)

Even more fun, rice up the car with lots of cardboard and paint, lots of "turbo" and "nos" stickers.

Now, cruise through town with windows half down.

And, to finish off the effect (and this is the fun bit) get a loudspeaker and make "pssshhhh!" sounds every so often (who cares if it doesn't correspond with gearchanges...).

Haha, reminds me of that rumour of someone who returned a shift light because it wouldn't come on any lower than 6000RPM ("what's the use of that? it'll never ever come on when I'm cruising through the city!")

there is a young kenny in lismore who used to own a proton satria. his big trick was to rev it out in first, switch his aircon off and shift into second. the big revs coupled with the sudden pressure in the aircon system used to make a factory blow off valve in the cooling pipes actuate, so the car really would go "psscht". it was funny the first three times, after that we all just gave him stick :)

people in arcades are dickheads, much better to sit at home playing mame games. tho a crew of guys rocking up in race suits to datyona usa or side by side 2 would be f@$ken funny

haha just sit and hog the demo! like someone talking really loudly on their mobile then it rings :)

i actually have datyona usa and virtua cop 1 and 2 on pc, it's really good to practice for when you go to arcades. back in high school i was almost unbeatable
