Hey everyone, i have a ke55 rolla and the handbrake holds fine on a hill, but the problem is it just makes a snap noise and loosens itself!sumtimes does it quikly and sumtimes does it half a day later. it makes hill starts very difficult as i already have to hold my first gear in cos my g-box is stuffed! lol. its been happening for a long time but i figured id find out how to fix it so i can have a go at it when I'm puttingmy new box in soon. any help would be greatly appreciated as always! cheers guys.

How far up does the handbrake pull in total? All the way? Hardly at all? Tried dragging it up without your finger on the button (like they are designed to do)?

If required, I have another hadbrake assy here that you're welcome to.

Ooooo, I just looked at my location. I'm actually in Nthside BNE at the moment, which is closer than normal. :P

when it 'snaps' is your handbrake falling back down? it sounds like a stuffed ratchet pawl or a sticky knob like raven pointed out

After 30 odd years i'd be inclined to say ratchet pawl or dodgy button release. Having worked with a company making the handbrake for the new VE Commodore, I can safely say they are heat treated and hardened but doubt they would last forever.

Lets us know what actually happens to create the end result of the handbrake 'snapping' back down and we can try to help, or help yourself to Redwarf's handbrake assembly and see if that fixes the issue.

Cheers
