no dice
I'm a noob so I'm sorry if this has all been done before. i've looked through all the engine conversions threads and still didn find the answers I'm looking for, then searched some more. so my situation is this. i really want a 69 rolla as a daily, i will want to upgrade the engine to either a 4k with all the stuff to give it a bit of get-up (which i kno is straight forwardish) or a stock 4age (seems to be much more complicated to get in but with obvious advantages of no performance mods, newer engine etc) also i need a car to keep me going which is why whole cars instead of just engines, the conversion wouldnt be done straight away my plans to do this are: buy a running twin cam ae82, obvously i would need a new gear box, drive shaft thingy and engine mounts but what else would i need to get the engine in the ke11 or get a ke70. are there any extra bits to get the 4k in? and how much money on top of that would i have to spend to make it less gutless? really i want the info so i can decide on the ae82 or ke70 as a inbetween daily well thats all for now. thanks lex Edited July 4, 2007 by no dice
7shades
I'm led to believe that you'll run into some dilemmas regarding legality with the 4age in the ke1* series... A mildly worked 4k will make it pretty damn beasty anyway.
no dice
oh i hadn't even considered that. thanks. I'm leaning towards a 4k at the moment, it will be cheaper no? even mildly worked? thanks for the reply
7shades
Good condition stock 4k with gearbox= $200 tops. Add weber 32/36 carby = $150ish secondhand in decent nick, with some change to buy the correct sized jets if it isn't set up for a 4k. Extractors and 2" exhaust = $400ish Bang for buck ratio = Priceless :)
ScottKE1X
I agree. Personally I don't think its worth putting any non k motor in a ke1x and I went through the whole "A series" phase a few times. Its a daily. Go with a 4k, do some work on it, save some cash. what state are you in? you have the car already? Scott.
