sleepercorty Posted August 25, 2007 Report Posted August 25, 2007 just wondering if anyone can tell me how to get rid of boost cut on a ca18det, i know that i can just run a resistor to the signal wire of the airflow meter but not sure what kind of resistor to run. apparently you can even get a adjustable resistor. irokin Posted August 25, 2007 Report Posted August 25, 2007 I would advise against it. All you're doing is telling the ECU theres less air going into the engine and thats only going to end in tears (on the side of the road in a puddle of oily coolant probably). The fuel cut defenders work in a similar fashion. The next best option would be to get a remap. They're not perfect and certainly can't replace a full ecu but it will remove your fuel cut and speed cut and let you run the higher boost in relatively more safety. Theres a mob on nissansilvia selling them for $200 but I would most certainly get that one remapped :P. Quote

Jordan Posted August 26, 2007 Report Posted August 26, 2007 remps are good expecially if you get your ecu remapped on a Dyno. RB20 AFM's are also a great upgrade for $100. Cheers Jordan Quote
sleepercorty Posted August 26, 2007 Author Report Posted August 26, 2007 explain more about the rb20 air flow meter, is it just better, or will it raise boost cut as it is off a bigger motor that would draw more air. Quote
irokin Posted August 27, 2007 Report Posted August 27, 2007 If you get a remap definitely get it tuned properly. The off the shelf tunes are pretty average. Below is a GRiD off the shelf tune on an SR20. It wasn't something I purposely looked for just needed an ECU to get the car running. As you can see the AFRs are a bit shonky but it made good power on 12psi. The RB20 AFM will just flow more air i.e. less restriction. http://www.irokin.com/gallery/picKLE-cache...a172kws_640.JPG Quote
Jordan Posted August 27, 2007 Report Posted August 27, 2007 the RB20 AFM is 3" in diameter, and is much better at measureing airflow above 150RWkW. just need to fiddle with the wires to get it wored up correctly Jordan Quote
