Des Posted September 10, 2007 Report Posted September 10, 2007 Forced induction doesn't need TVIS. Quote

Des Posted September 10, 2007 Report Posted September 10, 2007 Thats pretty much what I thought, can take off the block and throw it? I have only seen people remove the butterfly's and leave the plate there, I guess if the manifold bolted straight to the head it can be removed all together. Quote
thomo Posted September 10, 2007 Report Posted September 10, 2007 head has 2 round ports, manifold has 1 oval (or the other way round) you need to leave the body in there, remove butterflys, screw bolt in where shaft came through (you'll know what i mean when you see it) tvis not required for top end, if you want to rev, loose it Quote
MRMOPARMAN Posted September 10, 2007 Report Posted September 10, 2007 although i havent tried it myelf, ive heard reports from a few different people that its hard to get the manifold to seal if you check the tvis block all together. better off pissing off the butterflies and shaft and get the holes welded up. with the carb setup, i think it would be wise to piss off the butterflies aswell. the fuel would pool behind the closed butterflies at low rpms. this amnifold sounds interesting.. got pics? Medicine_Man Posted September 10, 2007 Report Posted September 10, 2007 The idea of the TVIS is to keep the low down torque, I think I've heard of people leaving them in turbo setups before as it does help. Some people just like to f@$k it off and you could have a plate machined up by an engineering workshop if you wanted.. I think Techno Toy Tuning may even sell a plate to suit. If you are running anything other than the standard EFI setup I'd take it out of the picture... Quote
beerhead Posted September 19, 2007 Report Posted September 19, 2007 Its a hard one to tell whether it'd help your bottom end torque or not. I'd wire up the TVIS solenoid through a flick switch and see what happens when you have a passenger flicking it at various different RPM's before abandoning it. If its good then you'll need to get a controller for it. Quote
