TiaN Posted September 29, 2007 Report Posted September 29, 2007 Hi all 1st time poster but am familiar with toyota's in general. Wondering if anyone has attempted this with success. Have just finished installing the above in a 102R rolla and as expected, nothing worked. The car has central locking standard, but remote doesn't do jack. I am under the impression that new remotes require some sort of programming to signify to the control module that it has a new receiver or am I wrong.. ? Have also done the On - Off 20 times but the indicators do not flash 20 times! If anyone can take the time to tell me what needs to be done or what has been left out, it would be greatly appreciated! Almost tore my hair out trying to install the thing ( half the info on the instruction booklet was utter bs ) :) and would feel good if the unit worked nicely! Cheers :D Quote

Cheers :D If you want the wiring diagrams to an ADM AE102, I've got them all uploaded to a Photobucket account: AE102 wiring diagrams As to getting the remote start to work, you've probably come across the immobiliser. The factory remote is usually coded by Toyota, then you can alter the settings by using the directions in the factory users manual and the socket in the glove box, but that obviously won't work with an aftermarket remote start module. I haven't attempted to set up a remote start system with my 102, but I'm pretty sure it has been done before. Edited September 29, 2007 by Hiro Protagonist Quote
Jono Posted September 29, 2007 Report Posted September 29, 2007 do you mean you want to install remote central locking or remote engine start? what kit have you bought? how much? we bought a ae112r for my wife yesterday and it has central locking but not remote central locking, i wouldn't mind retro fitting a genuine remote central locking kit. My parents got their 97 Camry with central locking but no remote, Dad went and Bitched to Toyota and bam 2 free remotes that work. Quote
Jono Posted September 30, 2007 Report Posted September 30, 2007 thats pretty cool. might give that a go. anyways i'm sure its not more than an hours work to fit a kit. i managed to fit a remote engine start/immobiliser/alarm system from taiwan with very poor chinglish instructions to my ke20 so i'm sure it can't be that hard. TiaN Posted September 30, 2007 Author Report Posted September 30, 2007 hi all thanks for the help and feedback. Hiro Protagonist - I'm pretty sure there is no factory alarm in the car at the moment. It has central locking standard and the owner (I'm just doing the work for him) purchased a genuine toyota remote conversion kit for it. It wasn't hard to install, just that half of the instructions were completely wrong in terms of pointing out which connectors had the wires needed to be spliced. Yes, it could have been an hour's work easy, but trying to translate (english was fine, just the location of the connectors were totally way off!) the damn thing was a complete head f**k . Then after installing it, I realised the remote that was supplied with the kit is a black one which is standard on the current shape rolla's (from 2003 - 2006, just b4 the new ones). According to the picture on the manual, it shows an older type rectangular-shaped remote with a big and small button which is getting me more confused. so yeh.. will put it off until I get further clarification from spare parts of my dealership. cheers Quote

I know for certain that SXV10R Camry (same time period, mid-late 90s) had the same shape remote too (I drive a 102, and parents own a 10R, both with remote central locking), and probably many other Toyotas of the same time period Quote
