camerondownunder88 Posted October 19, 2007 Report Posted October 19, 2007 Hi, After many days of disposing of about 80L of gas from a small commodore gas tank I now need to cut it in half. I have filled it with water just to displace the gas and plan to cut slow adn as I do the water will pour our and cut it witht eh tank sitting verticle so the gas (if any still in there) is above the water so less chance of a small pop. But is there another safety precautions I should take while doing this? Or can anyone recomend a way to do it? Cheers Cameron Quote
7shades Posted October 19, 2007 Report Posted October 19, 2007 I don't think there IS an actual "safe" way... A mate of mine has a few bits missing from his hand from cutting up a 44 gal drum, and he did the water thing too. Go easy Quote
Xany Posted October 19, 2007 Report Posted October 19, 2007 My uncle decided he had to fix his motorbike Petrol tank one day....(not sure what was wrong with it, but involved welding).....he can now fit a few extra litres in the tank. You can guess what happened. As for your situation cameron.....go nice and slow.....and have a fire extinguisher handy... :lolcry: Quote
KE30_KE35_KE55 Posted October 19, 2007 Report Posted October 19, 2007 I drilled and sawed a LPG tank apart to make a sandblasting tank I drilled a like 100 3mm holes all the way around in a line then got a hacksaw and some cutting oil and cut along the dotted line its the safest way Quote
