scuba86 Posted January 3, 2008 Report Posted January 3, 2008 hey guys...I'm new and this is my first post...!!!! i have a datto1200 ute with a modified 4agte putting out 300hp ATW....it has a borg warner diff, still leaf sprung, and its currently backed by a t50....with this combo i ran a 11.8sec down the quarter on street tyres.... the t50 is shocking...hard to get into gear and extremely notchy...and i don't want another one ive always wanted an auto with a big stally but never had much knowledge on the subject.... mayb tremec...? got no idea at all.... any ideas bout what to get will be grateful....and keep in mind the car will have upwards of 300kw ATW or more... also...do you really think its a good idea...? gets driven every weekend on the street... maybe jus a W58 or R154....? again, any feedback would be great...cheers steve Quote
Des Posted January 3, 2008 Report Posted January 3, 2008 The only auto that will bolt up to your 4agte in rwd is from AE71 corolla and i doubt it will last long. 3 speed thing they are. If you really want a auto get a custom bell housing and maybe T350 or something. I would go W58 but thats me. Quote
Trev Posted January 3, 2008 Report Posted January 3, 2008 (edited) My 4agte project has a A40 3 speed auto (standard AE71 auto) which will be getting kitted and a stally but I'm only aiming for around 200rwhp, I don't see how the auto wont be able to handle what your aiming for if you get it kitted as it should hold together. EDIT: You will also have to get a flexplate from a 20v or another 4age as we don't have the 6 bolt 4age. Edited January 3, 2008 by Trev Quote
oh what a nissan feeling! Posted January 3, 2008 Report Posted January 3, 2008 For the auto option: The two options are a Ford C4 or a holden trimatic. These both use the minimal amount of power to run. The problem is that these are both 3spds and have a final drive of 1:1. The 4spd option is a jatco box, it comes out in commo, but drains a heap of power. The other possibilities are the autos that come out behind the 2jz supra, these are known to handle a fair bit of power, have 4 gears, but once again suck a whole lot of grunt, on the bright side you can get a good one for $100. Personally i am going the C4 in the future, very strong box from the factory, and can be reliably built to handle a transbrake. I think the auto vs manual thing is something only you can decide, what is your intentions with the vehicle. Quote
scuba86 Posted January 3, 2008 Author Report Posted January 3, 2008 at the moment its a street car...but one day it will be a dedicated drag car...i was leaning towards a C4 too....but havent looked into prices yet.... Quote
oh what a nissan feeling! Posted January 3, 2008 Report Posted January 3, 2008 A C4 is very strong from factory, and to run your future 300kw@wheels from a 1600 (little torque), would require nothing but a shift kit. To run a transbrake as well on the other hand is considerable strain on the box and would require further upgrades. at the moment its a street car...but one day it will be a dedicated drag car...i was leaning towards a C4 too....but havent looked into prices yet.... Sounds like youre in exactly the same spot as me, i am going to get mine going with the 5 speed, and after it breaks or scares me too much i am going the auto, it also helps to have a manual while getting it tuned. Quote
love ke70 Posted January 4, 2008 Report Posted January 4, 2008 the supra auto wont hold 300rwkw as far as I'm aware. id go the jatco with the o/d, but 300rwkw through an auto is gonna be very hard ask for the 4agte, even on avgas... Quote
oh what a nissan feeling! Posted January 4, 2008 Report Posted January 4, 2008 the supra auto wont hold 300rwkw as far as I'm aware. My bro is a 2jz nut, he can name heaps of examples off his supra/aristo forums, all with stock autos. Quote
love ke70 Posted January 4, 2008 Report Posted January 4, 2008 http://toymods.net/forums/showthread.php?t...ght=6boost+auto seems the 1j/2j box may be different to the 1g box which is where i was drawing my info from. interesting to note the jatco is pretty much wireless, which is always a bonus when matching this to that, and that to this.
