I'm a Datsun man, i love restoring them.... But i've always been fond of the old Corollas and after owning an 84 KE70 as a rally car i've always wanted one as a dailey.

 

Anyways, i just sold my car, then my parnter in crimes car broke down, leaving us desperate for a car. It seems that, unless you stumble onto a bargain these days, most people want BIG$$$ for these machines, i so i bought an "in need of love" specimen.

 

The guy who sold it to me was dodgey as, but i knew what i was in for so i bought it. Apparantly the engine was stuffed, "blown head gasket" or something... choke was stuck shut, thats all :)

 

Its been resprayed (in enamel) to to hide the half assed rust repairs which were begining to show through again. Time to do the job properly.

 

The boot is quite straight and has already been shaven for me :lolcry:

 

 

 

PLANS:

cut n shut rust sections

then hit rusr prone areas with some POR15

prep n paint... I'm going with kawazak green at the mo... might change my mind.

 

electrify the the dizzy. many years ago Bosch made electric dizzy upgrade kits, i have 1 for my datsun, looks like the only difference between the Datto and the Rolla dizzy is rotation direction... quick mod and we are bangin"

 

keeping the factory steely dans but i might drop the car a little.

4K, not the best performance engine, but quite easily one of the most realable and, in my opion, the 2nd best mass-produced domestic engine ever made.

 

I'll be keepng the 4K, work it a little... :)

So what are we looking at doing after the basic rust repairs?

 

Cut out the rust, replace with clean metal, prep with POR15 (i love that shit) then scim a bit of love and she's all copacetic! :)

Man you'll probly get this thing done faster than yah brick lol

yeah its a tidy package though for the price its costs, you could get a half cut and have change.

I was joking about putting that on the KE70, keep the mods basic. Focus on a tidy body and few crazy gadgets inside.

The body wont be a problem. general area rust repair for now. Once i have my Datsun 1000 wagon rolling (gotta finish the rottisirie first) i'll garnet blast the rolla, give it the POR15 treatment and paint her up. then work on the interier.

Yeah still finding more rust. Done a fair amount of cut n shut so far. I'll show you some before and after pics soon... rust repair with out using bog, this will be 1 rare rolla :dance:

 

I've been looking around for cleaner body so i can get something on the road a little sooner (fix this one at my own lessure) but its seems that people want stupid money for rusty dungers that are in similar condition to mine.... either these people are smoking crack cocaine or the peaople that buy these cars have NO idea.... which may be a blessing in disguise.... if they are willing to part with 4 digits for rusty shitters, then once my rolla is returned to a rust free state it will be worth a small fortune :lolcry:

 

The spit is getting closer to cvompletion so once the VB10 is done, i'll get my ksev on it a rust treat it from all angles.

 

If you can get your 38 off the road for a little we'll spit it up as well and get some POR 15 all over its little body :y:
