No worries charl. Every car I have has the whitewall treatment and it is a pretty good bet that every car I get in the near future will also cop it. Three things can make any car cool...... whitewalls, a venetian blind and some slamming. When I say any car..... I even mean Camira's. :yes:

 

The flappers are in fact inserted between the rim and the tyre, so tyre is let down, flapper inserted and tyre pumped up again. It involves having tubes in your tyres as well to save any ongoing slow leak problems. The first set I had installed for my Corty I had tubes put in as I was told I had too. Never had a problem with them. The second set I had done for my Stout I was told it was my choice, so I went without and had slow leaks from two corners which on a non-daily is very annoying. So I went and had tubes put in.

 

So, four tubes will cost you $20 each if you don't have them already. The flappers will cost you $120 from John and to take to a tyre place and have them installed should be no more than $5 a wheel. The other thing to be aware of is that flappers do discolour around the edge but this can be kept under control with regular cleaning with windex or similar. I have had the ones on my Cortina for a few years now and they still look great.

 

Not sure if John would be there on a Saturday but definately give him a ring.

 

Be sure to post pics when you have the flappers on mate. This car is gonna look cool as.

and heres the fabric ill be using for the interior.

 

this ill be using for the roof lining, seeing as people rarely actually look at the roof lining i thought id use something very different just to see their reactions if and when they do notice!!

 

 

and for the door trims i will be using this polar fleece like grey stuff with sponge underneath.

 

 

i will post more pics of the process as i take them over the course of the weekend. so if you interested to find out whether i succeed in my trimming endeavours keep coming back. and needless to say, my other half will probably be doing all of the sewing like stuff.

first trace your original trims onto the mdf.

 

cut out new mdf trims

 

 

trial fit

 

 

put the clips on.

 

 

drill holes for the lugs on the "pocket" bits

 

 

upholstering the trims, used spray adhesive to stick the fabric to the trims.

re assemble the trims and you should end up with a nice schmik looking brand new trim!!

i decided to put a bit of padding into the front trims hence the upholstry foam stuck to the front of these...

I'm thinking about starting making trims for ke20's if people are interested? as you can see its easy enough to do yourself but if enough people can't be arsed and want new trims ill start making them to sell. prolly wont be much more expensive to you as the cost of materials and a little bit ontop!

i did the same panels as you did today in the 25, havent cut the holes for the pockets, may do when i trim them, still crappy brown masonite colour:( will trim when i get something to trim them in.

similar but different.

very small differences, would depend how u made the new lining.

 

are u aware that the roof lining in these corollas actually folds underneath the front and rear windscreen seals?

in order to correctly fit ur new lining both front and rear windscreen rubbers will need to be replaced.
