I know what it's like to be an apprentice.. I was one too, hard to get money together. Well done on buying a place though :)

Don't worry you'll be qualifed soon enough then you'll be making better money.

Money is always a problem. Mate just have a bit of fun and learn on this car i suggest. Spend little and do things yourself, may as well have a crack :lolcry:

i think my clutch is on it's way out, when the car is cold the clutch isn't engaging properly. It used to be going from first to second, but now it has started it 1st third and reverse this morning , has anyone had this problem before. As i have also mentioned the slave cylinder is leaking abit and the rubber boot is stuffed... any ideas anyone?

Yeah i got my clutch redone last week, I paid someone to do it coz i have know idea how to do that stuff myself, (i'm just a humble house painter lol)

It wasn't doing anything weird like what your saying just slipping and reving heaps in 3rd, 4th, and 5th when i put the foot to the floor.

Take it to a brake and clutch specialist and let them thoroughly check it out. Presuming your not topping up master cylinder, having a small amount of fluid may not be enough for proper engagement. Also sounds like time for a new clutch plate.

Just check the fluids, top it up before you take it for a spin and see if it gives it any difference. But taking it to a mechanic will help.

if i am going to be doing that work on my car i might as well put a sports clutch in it, anyone know a ball park figure on what the price difference will be??? in time i want to change to a twin cam, will it all just bolt togeather (gearbox, clutch) with the new engine?????

i got the timing done today. My mechanic charged me $10 even in my budget that one.

other then that nothing else has changed, one day it will

One problem i do need to sort out is sometimes when i turn my car off it isn't quite ready to turn off and it coughs are spluters for awhile then turns off. I thought this was due to the timing but it has done it now i have had the timing done... any ideas

In my 600000km old 3ac in my old tercel, it was a crack in one of the plastic plates between carby and manifold causing her to run on, the 4ac corolla carby setup may be different though.

One little crack took about 4 years to fix, well maybe an hour after we workd out what the prob was.

Had the motor decarbonised (otherwise it would still be a factory sealed motor) timing and everything else possible under the sun done.

The ol "turtle" is still pulling 200km trips every day, chugging oil and water like I used to with booze and cigs but it wont die.

Hey dude

Nice to see another ae82 on here!

ae82 have been known for a bit of rust around the petrol cap and behind the rear bar on the passenger side, but damn!!!

If you are going to have a crack at it yourself, id be cutting the outer skin around the wheel arch completely off and welding new ones on!

...or as a few other have suggested find a shell with less cancer and transfer everything over (cleaning as you go) :lovin:

If you need a help or have any questions on ae82's dude, send me a PM, I know them back to front :D

Cheers, Moe
