Well i put some extractors on my 4k over the weekend,

and since puttin them on the car will not idle.

so fit the extractors i one of the emmision items had to be removed.

it was the one that runs from the intake manifold to a emission thing with a vacume hose and then also attached to the exhaust manifold.

since the extractors don't have removed this and i blocked the hole in the intake manifold.

now i put new intake, exhaust gaskets on and the carbie gasket is in good nic, and everything was cleaned with a wire wheel before being put back together.

so is there any emision gear that could effect the idle? or is the a leak in the intake gasket? just want to know before i take the manifolds off again....

sorry for the long post

cheers

matt

Have a look and see if your inlet manifold flange and extractor flange are the same thickness (there or there abouts.)

I'd start there, because if the inlet isn't sealing, it'll run like a dog.

yea the flanges are slighly different sizes,

i thought that might be the case,

where would i take it to get machined down so the same size? once i have that it should be good?

its does run like bit like a dogg, thanks for the quick answer!

what vacume lines are vital for the running of the car?

cheers

Because only the thick one will be squeezed up against the gasket. The thinner one won't be held tight & will leak easily.

My Datsun ones were so different I glued a half washer onto the washer I had under the nut, so it squeezed both the same.
