Whats The Best Carbi For A Worked 7k??most Affective Carbi??

Featured Replies

as title quotes,

i want the best for my engine and just wanted to no your opinion, if iv got a 7k with a lumpy cam, lightned flywheel, extractors, zorst, what ever else i might do to it to increase power then what would be the most affective carbi???

I'm thinking it must be between twin su's or twin dellortos????

let me no.

haydn.

Weber 40DCOEs/Dellorto DHLA40s hands down.

Or twin 1.5" SU's. It all comes down to how the whole package is put together and how it's tuned.

Would Dellorto DHLA40s be the best for any worked K motor?

ok thanks for the info, so then all i would need is a k series manifold obiously ey??

You'll need the carbies, a manifold to suit and the throttle linkage. You may also have to slightly upgrade your fuel system (remove mechanical pump, add aftermarket electric pump and regulator) if you want the best performance.

if you put a pair of su's on, make sure you get the throttle shafts rebushed even if they seem reasonably ok, they are really really really fussy about vacuum leaks. also wouldn't be a bad idea to remote mount the float overflow so its away from a hot exhaust manifold....

put any thought into efi? i can tell you now that a pair of su's is going to be much the same in terms of time spent money spent and general stress caused.... and you need to either do the work yourself or find the RIGHT mechanic... a lot of mechanics don't want to know anything about them (i don't know why i think they are great)

Robert.

i would go for sidedraughts, better airflow, less hassle to fit,no extra wiring, no funny needle things to tune, and parts are readily available, also heaps of tuning info out there as well.

i'm building a 7k at the moment with ,cam, head, extractors, etc and we're using Dellortos.

ok ill take that into account.

ye i have thought about efi... whats the advantages of this?? are you saying that a pair of su's on a 7k would be just about the same as a 7k efi???

ye iv heard that mechanics don't like them iv had alot of people say that twin carbies are really really hard to tune and always go out of tune...? is this true??? i would of thought you could get them tuned and then if done right they should just stay intune ey??

ok, sidedraughts ey..? so your using sidedraught dellortos? also what type of cam are you using??? I'm looking at getting mine machined and am unsure on the specifications....

cheers, haydo

side drafts would be wayyy better than twin su's, a throat for each cyclinder FTW, but i'd just go efi, smooth, econmicial, temperature adjusted etc..

The problem with using old british technology is that every tom dick and harry has already tried to have a go at it...

I've got a pair of SU's on a worked 4k in a ke55 and they aren't too bad, very fussy on vacuum leaks, and a bit of a headache to set up and get to the standard they need to be, but once they are all good, everything right, they don't need retuning all the time.... pretty low maintainence...

If you are going to drive it around on the street, I'd suggest SU's or EFI, I'm under the impression that twin side draught webers are very on/off, no in between...

^What he said. I was talking to a guy who knows everything there is to know about Mini's, and he couldn't recommend them enough. As they are so basic, there's very little that can go wrong with them and if it does, it's quite easy to fix. As soon as I pick a set up, I'm going to have a crack and rebuilding them myself and fitting them to the KE55.

Also as he said, you need to have your vacuum spot on before you even think of installing SU's.
