Hi everyone

I just have a question about what options people suggest for my KE30. Its currently a 4 speed and i want to convert to a 5 speed and i just wondering what options i have?

So far i know i can get a a k55 5 speed, I'm busying trying to find one. Or ive heard that i can get a ke70 gearbox and swap the extension housings so i don't need to swap the tailshafts. But does this mean i would need a new shifter locations.

All opinions welcome

Cheers

You don't need to swap tailshafts for a KE70 K50.

Swapping the extension housing gives you a KE55 K50 shifter position.

If you don't do that you need to cut a hole further back in the trans tunnel.

Thas what i thought, so just to make sure I'm getting this right

I can get a ke70 5 speed, swap the extensions housings so the shifter position is the same as my K40 4 speed and also the bellhousing will bolt up the same and i wont need to change the tailshaft either?

Essentialy making a K50 gearbox

Thanks

EDIT, just on that too, will the extension housing of the K40 gearbox swap onto the KE70 box?

Its already a K50 gearbox...... you're just making it ke30/55 friendly.

Bellhousing is intergrated.

Tailshaft is same spline and length.

so if u get a gearbox from a ke70, rip urs out of a ke 30/55. unbolt the extension housing on both, then bolt the 30/55 housing one to the 70 5spd, you have a 5 spd that fits 30/55 with no problems??? any problems bolting the housing on or taking them off?

i never knew this before.

Yes. You just can't swap between K40's and K50's.

When re-fitting the other extension housing you just need to make sure all of the selector forks line up properly, but this isn't hard.
