You're replacing a 2.0L 4-cylinder truck engine which just happens to also be in some sports cars (and thus have a bit of performance background, albeit minimal) with a completely different 2.0L 4-cylinder van engine which makes less power. Both are cheap-as, both are rugged and reliable, both are easy to find, so why not just stick another 18R in there? Much less messing around, and you can probably pick up a runner for $50 or less.
