Rolliac Posted August 2, 2009 Report Posted August 2, 2009 Can I use this coil with my electronic ignition? The car is a KE11 and it has electronic ignition. It looks standard but may have been swapped at some stage. All I know is it uses the same rotor button as the Toyota Liteace (5k) Can I just swap the coils over or is there more to it? Excuse the toys in the photo. Quote
Taz_Rx Posted August 2, 2009 Report Posted August 2, 2009 Yes you can use it, but you need to find out if it is a GT40 or a GT40R, bit hard when the sticker is ripped off. If its a GT40R then ther only difference is you need to keep you ballast resistor. Quote
camerondownunder88 Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 If you run a GT40R coil on a electronic dizzy it will shit its self...Dizzy needs to run at full 12V on the 2 wires that go to the coil. If you under power it it will die in a few months. don't wanna kill a electronic dizzy. Get a GT40 if you want the GT series coil as they run at a full 12V. But I still think the stock denso coil packs a fair punch so try the wrecker for one. Cheers Cameron Quote
Felix Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 You'd be better of with one of the black Bosch HEI coils. The orange ones are for points dizzies and have a lower output than the black ones. Quote
