Fitting A Thermo Fan Advice Please?

we had a shroud made up for my thermo by an air conditioning place and got it powdercoated black, the thermo is bolted onto the shroud and it's mounted on the radiator, not through the fins. works really well and looks neat too!

and this is EXACTLY how to do it properly.

What material did the shop use to make the shroud? Got any pics?

ah i see what you mean by brackets..

ill be going with twin falcon thermo's with shroud for my cressy..

edit, you could also put a bit of rubber or somehting around the fan so it wouldnt vibrate etc against the radiator.

I bought a fitting kit with cable ties and pieces of foam to stop the rubbing.

I mounted the foam in all the contact spots, no issues :y: :)

thats a nice setup there corolla_nut

certainly some nice engineering gone into that setup.

i do have one question though.

when the fan isn't in use i'm just wondering how much that shroud would be restricting the natural air flow when driving along normally.

since you only really need the fan when the car is stationary or going up a hill under full load or something.

i know in my car i rarely ever turn on my fan (i have an override switch, since my little temperature circuit is being a pain) only in car parks or traffic.

yeh i did the alloy strip idea test fitted it with zip ties and she fits all good so now all i need is some bolts but I'm wiring it first so then its a 30min job when i do get to it and i gotta shorten the bolts off were the standard fan was otherwise they hit

thanks guys for your help you saved me rooting my radiator ;)

cheers mitch
