I wonder about this mystical thing called power steering.

The other day I was driving my sister's AE82 Seca with the sweet mother of 4AC under the bonnet when it occurred to me that the steering was quite light. I peered under the bonnet to notice power steering.

I couldn't help but notice that it made the drive a little more comfortable and effortless, more so than my AE71. The only thing it lacked was the distinct rawness of feedback through the steering wheel letting you know what is happening :)

So I ponder the question about power steering in a xE7x??

1. Has it been done by anyone?

2. How??

If not, how can it be done.

I think you would have to have a 4AGE for something like this as most of them have the power steering pump, mounts etc but just wondered if it were possible.

I just thought I would open this one up for discussion :y:

Yeah people have put the ae86 power steering rack before, but the spline where the steering column goes onto the rack is different. I remember seeing a pic of one i think on ae86dc

not sure but i think you need to do quite a bit of work to get it in, also power steering means less power, and 4k's are already weak as piss.

why not just rebuild your current reck and pinoin steering? it will feel a lot smoother if you get it done proper.

ive driven a ke70 with worn rack and it was a bitch to turn while standing still and also going slow, but my ke70 atm has had the steering rack either replaced recently or was just turned once a month for the last 25 years as its smooth as hell and feels really light to turn, that said i am running 13" rims with 175 on them

You might want to research steering arm lengths as non P/S ones are often slightly longer to give you more mechanical advantage. This is the case on quite a few cars.

If you put P/S on long steering arms it might get too light and turn scary........
