crustydemons666 Posted September 5, 2009 Report Posted September 5, 2009 Hey people, I got a 1980 t18 lift back with a 3t-c motor and a 5 speed manual gearbox. Does anyone know what motor will bolt staight in, because the motor in mine is blown and i just wanna get it up and running for the moment so i can drive it. Cheapest option possible at the moment. Thanks Quote
Paul Posted September 5, 2009 Report Posted September 5, 2009 Cheapest option would probably be a 3T-C If you say which state you are in someone might see it and be able to help you... although a wtb thread in the classifieds section would have been more appropriate. Quote

Currently own 4 T18s and have stacks of parts for them... Other option if you wanna have some more fun and rev harder is a 2TG will bolt straight in too... gotta love the twin cam engines. Also, if you swap the gearbox too... can slot in a RWD 4AGE so long as you use the T50 for it, as they have different output splines on what is otherwise the same box. Quote

Hrmm.. Not that I have a T-18 to do this conversion in, but do engine mounts/crossmember need to be modded for this? Quote

NO!!! just get a 4AGE/GZE/GTE do the RWD engine conversion bits like cooling system, inlet etc. Stick engine mounts from either an AE86 or AE71 and it all bolts straight in... Quote
Paul Posted September 8, 2009 Report Posted September 8, 2009 Need to use AE71 or AE86 crossmember which is good too because you get the rack and pinion upgrade. Quote
