The motor in the car has been thrown in the bin, its dodgy and dosnt comply with sa standards, so I'm getting a 5k built for it as we speak.

not worth putting it back together a bit of work for nothing....

it'll probs run but the rings definately won't last if they work at all

without actually seeing any pictures i can't make a proper judgment but i would just get a re-hone done on all cylinders and clean it up really well..

 

should be fine if your looking for a new engine anyway

 

and maybe get some harder rings.. if thats possible

Saw somewhere that you had forged internals in it ? Not cheap. Wouldnt run it, I would pull it apart and see what is saveable

 

Forged pistons probably cost more than you would pay for a complete stock 7K

so true, people have told me that it would probley just wear the rings, but for the price its probley not worth the risk.

its tempting, I'm sooooo keen to get it going again.

If the bores are shot the rings are probably rusty as well and it'll just do more damage to the bores. You might be able to get away with a surface hone at the moment, whereas running it might result in needing an overbore job fairly soon.
