I read up a while back on doing your own casting at home, and I got very excited about putting together a pattern to cast up finned rocker covers for K engines... On air cooled motors it's a totally different kettle of fish. Porsches and volkswagens have big fans pulling loads of air through the finned cylinders. Polishing is just the last step to get it shiny and finished.
