7shades Posted February 3, 2010 Report Posted February 3, 2010 This article is the best I've seen thus far which explains the actual problem. http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/why-toyot...or-denso-pedal/ Quote
ke70dave Posted February 3, 2010 Report Posted February 3, 2010 This article is the best I've seen thus far which explains the actual problem. http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/why-toyot...or-denso-pedal/ that was a cool article, even if it wasnt entirely correct (i have no idea if it is or not) but at least it has some technical stuff to back up its claims. i cannot stand driving a "fly by wire" car, feel so disconnected from the car, the engine just doesn't do what you want it to do. what is even worse is the new VW golf (turbo diesel i drove) with DSG gearbox and fly by wire, totally....gay.....i could not drive it at low speed comfortably. I concur, 100% Especially with the Golf and its variants (caddy etc) The Mercedes Vito I drive is the same... May as well be a video game. Quote

Kid-Ae Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 Jalopnik has a good opinion piece on the core of the problem: http://jalopnik.com/5464315/beige-bites-ba...lding-dull-cars Just read it. They're not wrong! No-feel driving.. It's how idiots get their licenses.. Wonder how people would go driving a REAL car that didn't have a bunch of electronic controls to correct any poor skills behind the wheel.. Toyota need to remove the drive by wire system.. It may be the 'way forward' but if its of any safety concern and makes driving a car feel 'wrong' then scrap it and go back to a cable.. What was wrong with them in the first place? ;) Quote
