belly_up Posted August 2, 2005 Report Posted August 2, 2005 Hey All, Been going through the KE30 troubleshooting all the little problems, and the only thing left that doesn't work on the dash is the "Brake" warning light, that sits with the hand brake light. I'm assuming that its a low fluid level warning or similar, and also assuming that it connects to the sensor in the side of the distribution block thingo on the firewall. What i want to know is under what circumstances is this light meant to come on? There is currently no fluid whatsoever in the front brake circuit as i have changed to new front calipers that have yet to be bled, and the light still remains off with the ignition turned on. It's not a huge issue, but it'd be nice to have it performing it's intended function. Any help appreciated, Cheers Adam Quote
Super Jamie Posted August 2, 2005 Report Posted August 2, 2005 it tells you when there's no brake fluid, funnily enough Quote
belly_up Posted August 2, 2005 Author Report Posted August 2, 2005 hmm, thats what i thought it should do. Well i definately have no fluid, so i'll have to try and chase down why it doesn't work then. Thanks for the reply Adam Quote
z|gen Posted August 2, 2005 Report Posted August 2, 2005 as far as i know, the KE30 didnt have a master cylinder low level warning system, so the fault will lie at the switch on the handbrake lever. possibly a blown fuse also. Quote
belly_up Posted August 2, 2005 Author Report Posted August 2, 2005 nope there is 2 seperate lights. the hand brake one works fine, the switch was dead but i fixed it. It is possible that the light is there but not connected to anything. There are no level sensors in the reservoir caps as is common, but as i noted there is a sensor of some sort going into the brake line distribution block on the firewall. Quote
z|gen Posted August 2, 2005 Report Posted August 2, 2005 interesting, as my ke30 never had that. what colors are the wires? il check my wiring manual for you. Quote
demuire Posted August 2, 2005 Report Posted August 2, 2005 Interesting, you must have a later model KE30. Which dash do you have? The early KE3x or the later KE5x one? Which master cylinder do you have? The inline Jap one or the parallel PBR Aussie one? On my KE55, I had the PBR (PRB?) one, and it had a wire going to it. I've never seen wires go to the brake distribution block before... On my KE35 I have a Pajero master cylinder and that has a sensor in it. Anyway, if it helps at all, the light works by grounding. When there is no fluid, it's meant to ground out, and then the light comes on. Quote
