dingo ke55 5k Posted August 6, 2005 Report Posted August 6, 2005 Hey guys. I was wondering if any one can help me. My headlights and high beam stopped working, the parkers still work though. Ive checked fuses wiring and the globes ,all ok. Is there a relay that powers the headlights? I'm guessing there is but i can't locate it. Any help would be appriacited. Thanks fellow Rolla Heads. Redwarf Posted August 6, 2005 Report Posted August 6, 2005 Mine is off to the friendly auto elec Monday for exactly the same problem. I'll let you know. R Quote
kangaroosa Posted August 6, 2005 Report Posted August 6, 2005 There is a Relay for the Lights. Its either on the passenger side in the engine bay, right beside the battery. Or is directly on the opposite side near the coil. My KE30 has Relays in both these positions, but i can't remember exactly which one is for the headlights. Years ago mine rusted and corroded up internally, like a battery terminal. The lights would actually stay on, and in some cases would turn themselves on after i had parked the car with the lights switch/stalk still in the off position. Quote
Redwarf Posted August 6, 2005 Report Posted August 6, 2005 I know for a fact it isn't my relays..... Quote
demuire Posted August 6, 2005 Report Posted August 6, 2005 Mine had the same problem a week or two ago. Turns out because of my higher wattage bulbs I burnt out the contacts in the plug under the steering column. Rob: I believe you have higher wattage bulbs too. According to Banjo it's fairly common to burn out the contacts in the actual steering column switch too. Quote
rjenman Posted August 7, 2005 Report Posted August 7, 2005 Just in case anyone knows whats going on: I have this weird problem that my headlights go out randomly....the blue light on the dash that lights up when u turn the high beams on lights up instead of the headlights. I play with the stick on the steering column (jiggling high beam on and off) and the headlights go back on. ..wtf? Quote
demuire Posted August 7, 2005 Report Posted August 7, 2005 rjenman: That was exactly the same problem I had. Check all connections. On my car it was the plug under the steering column. Quote
