Standard chassis plans, standard bodies are cheap, all standard components from your donor car (suspension/diff/gearbox/engine/steering/wheels) and must be setup to run left or right turns. In theory it limits expensive mods and keeps racing close. The standard chassis was used mainly for the look and so you didn't have to find a good condition body. Also keeps all your safety gear like roll cage the same for everyone. Basically can use any of the 1200 Datsun or 3K Toyotas which are rusting out all over the place.
