I've noticed that my early ke30 has this plate underneath the inner rear corner of the drivers seat (the passenger seat has it too)

post-1432-1276319904_thumb.jpg

F - is facing to the front

A - is a nut thats welded or something to the plate. Bit like a forgotten after thought cause the nut is tapped but there's no hole through the metal for a bolt to go through.

The seat belts (the clasp end) in my '30 are bolted to the seat itself, i know the later '30's and '55's are bolted to the floor behind the seats. Is this the spot where they bolt to ? The dimple thing is where the inner rear corner of the seat bolts into.

Pardon the dodgy letters in the picture but my ever so friendly "borrowers" have made off with the text button in MS Paint.

Up from the plate is the fuel line (or brake line), hand brake cable (or part of the hand brake) and the prop shaft.

Yeah Rob, that looks like the point where 55/late 30's had the seatbelts bolted to.

Are you wanting to put later model seats (55/late 30) into your 30?

You can actually mount the early 30 seatbelts stalks onto the side of the later seats (there's a hole in the seatbase, that is covered by the upholstery, which works fine.....although holding the nut on inside can be a bit tricky).

I had KE55 front seats in my '74 KE36 and used the original style seatbelts with no problems at all.

Cheers

Kind of with the seats. I did have some nice cloth seats from the '55 that i had till i realized the seat belts are different in the early '30 so i got rid of them :)

But now finding that nut has reopened the possibilities of other seats.

But now i've also got the thoughts of some cloth '55 seats bolting the '30's belt stalks to them and keep it looking factory

Ahhhhhh, this brings back memories....

Where the seat-belt bolts too on the inner rear of the driver's seat, that hole is just that - a hole. Underneath the car will be an cone of sorts with a flat tip, and there will be a tapped hole at the tip of the cone which the bolt will engage. This cone should be welded to the underside of the body, but they seem to have a nasty habit of breaking those welds. When I first got the KE55 the welds had come undone and the only thing holding that cone in was the bolt attaching to the seat-belt, and that little vinyl patch. Got it welded up for rego, and all was good.....until it broke again. After that, it got fixed properly and never had any more problems.
