Trev Posted November 13, 2010 Report Posted November 13, 2010 Most definitely a flow issue, if it isn't the rad then perhaps try a high flow thermostat. Also if it isn't pinking then I wouldn't worry about the timing. Quote
Des Posted November 13, 2010 Author Report Posted November 13, 2010 The plan is Reverse flush the rad. Run the hose through the engine. Take out the thermostat. Maybe try and remount the fan inside the engine bay. Quote

Trev Posted November 13, 2010 Report Posted November 13, 2010 If you are doing it this week then give me a yell as I will be bored. Quote
Des Posted November 21, 2010 Author Report Posted November 21, 2010 I pulled the radiator out today and yes it was filled with gunk, Reverse flush and no thermostat and she runs perfect. I need a new thermo fan though as mine is seizing up. Rather hard to spin while its turned off. With the fan going, sitting still and in neutral the temp is about 75 and giving it a hard time about 85 degrees. Quote
Trev Posted November 21, 2010 Report Posted November 21, 2010 Well at least the problem was not a hard fix. Quote
Des Posted November 21, 2010 Author Report Posted November 21, 2010 Went for another drive and 100 degrees on the highway. Going to get the rad looked at this week. Quote
ninja-philbo Posted November 21, 2010 Report Posted November 21, 2010 dam man sounds like i need that motor looked at u running coolant Quote
TRD ke70 Posted November 21, 2010 Report Posted November 21, 2010 Hey Des, it's an Auto right? it'll be the trans oil heating up the coolant/radiator. assuming you have the trans oil cooler in the rad. Fit an external cooler for the trans and see if that fixes the problem. It's a known issue for Corolla's with Autos. Quote
Evan G Posted November 21, 2010 Report Posted November 21, 2010 bwhaaaaaatttt, someone got there thinking hat on! :| Quote
TRD ke70 Posted November 21, 2010 Report Posted November 21, 2010 Na, Even, had a Ke70 with the same problem!! Quote
Evan G Posted November 21, 2010 Report Posted November 21, 2010 i thought the max transmission temp is 80degrees? (for the POS mercs i work on) i would just clamp the lines and go for a quick drive and see what it says Quote
ninja-philbo Posted November 21, 2010 Report Posted November 21, 2010 well its a good upgrade to do anyway just don't put it infront of ur rad cause same issue will arise.have u tred putting the stock fan back on Quote
Des Posted November 27, 2010 Author Report Posted November 27, 2010 The radiator is blocking up with shit still. I had it professionally flushed today for free and I put a stocking on the top hose and from a 15min drive it was blocked up. Quote
