hey guys I was cleaning my wheels the other day and I removed the inside plate from the wheel cause its a 2pc rim.

anyway once I got to the last few bolts the tire just deflated real quick, I realize I probablly shouldn't have had air In the tire,

I'm just scared that now the wheel is ruined cause it won't hold air properlly,

would it be a good idea to buy a new tire.. or get the wheel re rolled, the wheel looks fine, but like I said it doesn't hold air for very long.

any help would be nice thanks guys!

did you re seal the rim???

Get a tube installed maybe?. Shouldnt have leaking wheel issues again.

The problem isnt the wheel.

 

Its obviously a 3 piece rim that is siliconed together. You need to break the silicon, clean it all off and redo it. Or failing that you broke the stem when the centre came loose and that need changing. A tube is not the answer. Some pictures would help.

 

Or send them to Mungi Mods to be welded up. Incidentally most welded wheels have a bead of silicon over the weld just incase of pinholes.

I haven't taken the tire off so I can't check to see if the seal is broken or whatever.

I think at this stage with the tire on pictures would be pointless like you can't see where the air could escape from.

by the way just to get this clear the weld/silicon point would be exposed once the tire is off right?

yes but it still needed to be sealed man, your still joining something together or pulling it apart, run your finger along the join on the rim and there will should be a little bit of sillicon poking through somewhere

Youll be right, its no big deal, youre just doing a little more refurbishing than you planned.

ill take the wheel off tommorow and have a look to see if I can find that weld.

would I have to seal both underneath the tire or just the bit that is already exposed on the inside of the wheel?

I reckon just do it once and do it right, well 4 times. Strip em all down and clean them, fix any damage, and roll in style.

I have rebuilt a couple of these recently, exactly as said here.

 

Personally I wouldn't bother with welding up. Silicone is less likely to leak than weld in my opinion. I have had no probs with mine and silicone.

 

 

I wouldn't weld them simply because you can have them widened if you don't weld them. once they're welded, it takes a lot more dicking around to widen.

thanks a lot for the help guys, I will silicone them once I get new tires and stuff, would it be okay to use "masters tire sealer" as a temporary fix?

and would it even work?
