G'day All , Here is a Link to my new KE38 wagon that I'll be recieving on Tuesday as its being transported down from Newcastle area , http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150529465975&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT,

It will be getting a set of 14 in RA60 Celica rims fitted with 185/60 tyres , Once regoed I'll fit some 5% window tint , unsure of any other future mods apart from a Cold air Intake & Stereo ,

Just before you read & see the other KE38's I've owned I'll advise you All now that I'm a Ford Musclecar Man & own 8 Falcons from XT-XB including a XTGT & XWGTHO ,

Now back to the KE38's , Pics are of poorer quality due to being pics of pics

1st one was bought in 94 for $800 with 5mths rego , 4k 4spd , I fitted a 4AGE & 5spd Sprinter engine & box combo , Repainted the car in its Original colour but I added a bit of Gold pearl to it , 5% window tint , RA60 Celica Rims with 195/60 fronts & 245/60 rears , Sold it a guy that came up to me & Offered me $6500 for it so off it went , Original plans were to fit a 289 & auto with LSD to it as back then I couldv'e got it engineered & regoed in NSW , If I had done this I'd still own it now ,

Hi Dave,

Couple of nice wagons you've had there, I really like the look of the second one. Would be great to see the next one built up to the same quality.

You say the second one had a 5k in it, but I just noticed that I think it was actually a 7k!!! Not that you'd really care now.

All other K motor 2/3/4/5k all have a flat side on the driver side of the rocker cover, see how yours has that rounded bit under the oil cap - That would suggest its a 7k!!! Here's a pic of the 7k in my wagon - has the same lump....

G'day Taz , Thanks I forgot how good the 2nd one looked as I didn't even know if I had good pics of it or not , Neither car would've been sold if it wasn't for the people both offering Good money for them as I find them very handy & somehow they end up Modified/Restored whilst I own them which attracts buyers I guess ,

It may have a had a 7k rocker cover as I bought the 5k engine in bits & built it myself , I ported the Head & intake as big as I could go & drilled out the jets too ,

Cheers

Well a couple of other way to tell:

Did you have to modify the sump or cross member to fit it in?

Can you remember if it had an extra 3 bolts (that all other K's don't have) running along under the spark plugs between the head and block? They're not proper head bolts just for extra sealing around the oil galleries.

....or maybe it was just the rocker cover.

No it bolted straight in , It did have a 5k engine number too , Don't know the previous history of the engine as I bought the engine/box combo stripped off a guy that had it to go into his KE70 at the time , paid $120 for it all .

As for the new wagon , I don't like the colour of it all , as I like Blue not Yuck Yellow so who know where the it'll end up & after seeing the pics of the Electric Blue wagon its started to make me think again about a Full colour change & some sort of engine upgrade , would love a V8 in it but it wouldn't be legally regoed , If I did it I would make it a 2 hour bolt in conversion so I could always drop the 4k back in to get any defects cleared LOL .

Cheers

G'day Simon ,

Never really been into Turbo's as I've always driven V8's , But I did build a Mitsubishi Scorpian in the early 90's with a 2.6 Turbo engine , Went hard & cost next to nothing to build ,

Your've got me thinking & after seeing your car I think it maybe possible & its quiet cheap to buy a New kit as below , I'll just buy a Tig welder 1st then I'll manufacture a Tube Alloy Intake & a Custom Turbo Manifold , I have this silly idea of running Liquid LPG Direct injection onto it too so I can bypass any fuel control issues .

I would be able to work with this , a little cutting & welding but this would be easy compared to the Restoration work I do on Rusty Falcon GT's these days & I'm a Mechanic by trade ,

Cheers

  • 5 weeks later...

G'day All , I've given the Ol Corolla a hell of a Clean , Buff & polish , Fitted a new 5 speed gearbox , RA Celica 14 x 5 1/2 in rims with 185/60/14 tyres , New Seat Covers , Tightened the Steering column , Tuned , Serviced & is now basically ready to regoed although I'm going to fix the small rust spots & damage areas prior to regoing , I'll get some new pics up tomorrow & show also what still needs repairing ,

I would like some opinions on what you would do or think would be better , Keeping in mind this car will be used everyday & parked everywhere ,

Should I tint the windows Black like the last 2 wagons I had (Its very Cool inside & you can't see in) or should I fit side & rear venetians , I have venetians in my Falcons but this car has a different purpose ,

I'm thinking of covering all the Painted areas in the back of the wagon & can't choose between covering it in Black Marine type carpet or gluing a layer of Foam on the paint then gluing Black Vinyl over it to give it a nice padded feel , More work but might look better ,

Cheers

hey dave i really like what you did to the 2 previous wagons looks clean and sleeper looking definitly i reckon deck the painted areas with marine carpet and well venetians in a wagon really makes it look granny spec and cool so you could fit a rear venetian and then see what its like

G'day Chris , Thanks for the comments , I think the Marine carpet might be the go as I'll be covering the side panels & wheel arches with it too ,

Here are the latest pics of how the car is now , I added wheel arch chrome to the front & would like honest opinions on whether or not to add it to the rears after I do the repairs as per pics ,

Cheers

Very nice and the wheel arch chrome looks the goods too, where'd you score it from?

Thanks , The wheel arch mould is just stick on chrome mould that was purchased through Supercheap , I've found the same stuff for sale oversea's in various widths on ebay , If you want the links let me know ,

Yeah Chris , the only reason I didn't stick the rears on is due the Rust on the LH side & the damage on the RH side which I'll fix this week hopefully , I'm also going to stick some on the roof gutter as the Plastic Gutter moulds are long gone ,
