shouldn't it just slide off or gently lift the bottom edge off with a screwdriver and then work it off, if you don't intend to use them again just rip it off

It's pretty much impossible to get them off at this stage...

I remember a guy bent the top lip off, after days of soaking etc. He needed to order new ones to go back on, and clips.

So tape it up I guess and spray around it!

Just tape 'em yeah.

 

They were probably flexible when new but after almost 30 years you'd just be risking ruining them.

 

Depends how anal you wanna be about your paint I suppose.

I hate when you put some bog over a little patch and you put about 10mm to much and you don't have the right sand paper below 240 grit. :glare: piss's me off

Was to windy today, but just cleaned up a couple of things so was alright!

Grrr rolling guards failed today!!! cause I cut the lips off the gaurdss, the had way to much rust...
