altezzaclub Posted February 3, 2011 Report Posted February 3, 2011 You really need to reset the crown wheel & pinion spacers to allow for the wear marks they have developed, and although I know the theory of it its something I've never done. That's where the fat bill from a diff shop comes in I'm afraid. Quote
doecke55 Posted February 4, 2011 Report Posted February 4, 2011 ok but say its a thrash bus would the diff last if i just replace bearings? Quote
SLO-030 Posted February 4, 2011 Report Posted February 4, 2011 (edited) This is for a KE70 panelvan yes? Remember, they have completely different rear ends to sedans. Would hate for someone to get a sedan diff, then go to rip out the wagon one and realise its not gonna go. EDIT: Would love it actually, many lols would be had. altezzaclub Posted February 5, 2011 Report Posted February 5, 2011 ok but say its a thrash bus would the diff last if i just replace bearings? As long as any other diff. It would still whine if the teeth have wear patterns on them. The gear whine is different to the growl of worn bearings, but the only way to learn that is to hear them both. Quote
iwontarolla Posted February 22, 2011 Author Report Posted February 22, 2011 so I'm going to need to find a panel van diff? Quote
TRD ke70 Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 They aren't that hard to rebuild, a few bearings, a inch lb torque wrench, and a new collapse-able spacer, and a good workshop manual. Quote
iwontarolla Posted February 22, 2011 Author Report Posted February 22, 2011 do you know of any good online walk throughs. it has a locker and there is a lot of play in the left axle so pull it apart and see if its repair able? Quote
