bluffaluff Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 what are everybodys thought on this, good idea or bad? what troubles would i have, how difficult would it be to do? thanks. Quote
bluffaluff Posted March 8, 2011 Author Report Posted March 8, 2011 or even a SC14 Supercharger? Quote
RedKE30 Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 What engine? Assuming you want to charge the standard motor you have either a 3k or a 4k. SC12 has been done a few times on K series motors, have a look in the rides section. Quote
bluffaluff Posted March 8, 2011 Author Report Posted March 8, 2011 yeah just standard engine, 3k i think, would it be hard to do? and how much extra power or anything owudl I get? haha I'm new to all this Quote
RedKE30 Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 I don't know any details of this modification, you'd have to look around the forum, check out the rides and then once you have a good idea of what to do you can direct more detailed questions to the people who've done it. Quote
mhmills Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 http://www.rollaclub.com/board/topic/46322-mhmills-ke70-temporary-4k-blower-setup/ There ya go mate, I've already done a AMR500 onto a 4k, pretty easy job. Next I'm doing a SC14 on to a 5k alongside a T28 Turbo. Hope that helps. Quote

mhmills Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 how much more power do you get from it, is it worth it to do to a 3k? Honestly, I PERSONALLY wouldn't bother on a 3k. My setup was only temporary as I was gonna swap out the 4k with a 5k. The idea was to try blow the 4k up, but it battles on! It also all depends on how much power you want? The AMR500 will boost 5PSI stock so you won't really need to retard timing or bother decompressing the engine. It's harder to increase the power output on the AMR500 because unless you can find a smaller pulley to put on the charger (Harder to find as it's already pretty small), you'll need to put a bigger pulley on the engine (Easier to find). Ideally if you're going for power, go for the SC12/14 as there are pulley kits of different levels of boost readily available ON TOP of being able to swap the engine pulley for even more boost. Keep in mind I still have a great deal of fun in the AMR500 4k. It's all upto you really. Cheers, Jake. Quote

mhmills Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 i just want something that will give it that little extra boost, get more sideways ;) haha and sometihng that'll be easy to set up too Okay then, wet roads and bald tyres, slide till your hearts content! (JOKE!) Setting it up isn't all that hard, but I couldn't imagine supercharging the 3k getting you what you're after. Just do what everyone else does and put in a 4AGE. IF you're deadset on supercharging however, it's not a hard setup. Pipes, carby and electric fuel pump. That's the BASIC requirements. Why do you want to slide a KE30 so much? Quote

What if you do all this work then crash? Get some time on the tracks and practise before doing crazy stuff... Alternatively get yourself a 4k, they're EVERYWHERE AND CHEAP. Instant upgrade as apposed to building up a 3k. Quote

ae824ate Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 AMR 300/500 are pretty small blowers too, id be inclined to go for an sc12 with a suitable pully. Or you could sell me your corolla, so someone with some knowledge and respect for beautiful cars could treat it well :P Quote

Everyone that is "new to this" needs to understand that these engines are designed in the 60's. They don't make aftermarket +hektyk kits for these engines. The best you can do is DIY. So if you're shit enough to not find anyone else that's done it, do it yourself. Quote
