Hi Guys,

Just finished putting st142 (i believe, either that or ma61 which is the same anyway) coilovers into my ke70.

i Used ke25 LCA's, coilover sleeve kit, ma61 brakes, standard strut tops and then corona steering arms (soon to be replaced with t3 items)

So i put everything in went to put my wheels on and noticed the car is running bucket loads of toe out. (was about 11pm so i really couldnt have been arsed attempting to fix it).

Now would i get the toe issue due to the longer LCAs and not adjusting the rack ends to suit, or do i need longer rack ends? is it as simple as getting it to a wheel allignment place and getting an allignment?

Keeping in mind i have done the same LCA conversion in my panelvan and used standard rack ends but i did run a lock spacer then.

or because of the steering arms being too long and throwing it out of wack?

Thanks in advance.

you can get a pretty good wheel alignment at home with just using a tape measure to measure the distance between the fronts and back of the wheels.

you can't set castor or toe properly at home (you can have a good go), but toe is quite easy to set.

just keep the steering wheel straight, and adjust both sides the same amount. keep measuring between the front and back of the tyres untill they are the same, then you wheels should be straight!

(if the LCA;s are longer than the ones you had in there, then that will defiantly cause toe out, experiment in seeing if you have enough adjustment in the items you have, else you may need to go for the ra60? rack ends which are longer, have the extra tube to give you more length)

It's often a bit awkward measuring from the side of one tyre to another.

A quick easy way to get toe roughly where you want it, prior to driving the car down to the wheel alignment place, is to tie a piece of cord to the centre of your rear bumper bar, then running it past the centre of the rear wheel and up to the side of the front wheel. Pull the cord tight then gently bring it in till it contacts the tyre. If it touches only the rear of the tyre, you have toe in, if it touches only the front you have toe out. Then adjust at the tie rod till you have it roughly where you want it.

Repeat on the other side.

Make sure you have your steering fairly centred before you start!

I did nearly the exact same conversion in the T18, ma61 coilovers, brakes, T3 RCA and T3 steering arms, with brand new corona LCA's and I just wound out the tie rod ends more to suit and measured them very roughly then I did a wheel alignment at work (toe was still out by like 20 haha), if you lived down the road I could do it for you but your a bit far away, haha.
