Kezzar Posted March 31, 2011 Report Posted March 31, 2011 hey fellas, ive been recently doing some research on carbys and am considering getting a 32/36 Carby Conversion kit from http://www.weberperformance.com.au/product_info.php?cPath=2_82&products_id=293 for my ke70 wagon, and ive just got some questions to be answered out of curiousity and to make sure i got the right thoughts to mind. 1. am i able to do a 32/36 Carby on a 100% stock 4k? 2. (excluding the tuning, going to get a mechanic to do it) is a carby conversion pretty straight forward with the conversion kit as such seen in the link. 3. what would be the greatest change when carby is done and tuned (acceleration, power ect ect) 4. looking into the engine bay from the front of the car, my carby sits right to the engine, would this be Right-hand (DGV)or Left-hand (DFV) or is this determined in a different matter(does it really matter?). thats pretty much all, ill post some more if i need. I'm not to smart with all this, which is obvious, thats why i need your help :) Cheers, Kezzar Quote
Twinky Posted March 31, 2011 Report Posted March 31, 2011 It is reletavely straight forward depending on how skilled you are. Even if you have little experience it is pretty simple. You should get a slight power increase from the carb and have greater tuneability and plenty of aftermarket support. If you want the best of the carb I would suggest you find a set of extractors and MAX 2 1/4" exhaust system. Next on the list would be a mild camshaft and then lastly getting the head ported and shaved. You would be looking at just over $1000 to do all of that depending on where you go. From memory I beleive that webber could handle 200HP, so imagine it running on a 60HP engine. You would want to juice all the HP you can from the motor. Before you buy that kit search around the forums to see if anyone is selling one here before paying over $500 for something you could get for $250 allready tuned to go on a 4k. I do beleive I saw one this week on here. Quote
altezzaclub Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 Not over 2" exhaust!! You could use an inch &3/4 and it would do. I reckon very few guys make the 32/36 work fully, its not that they are the best Weber for the motor, its just that they are common and cheap. Twinky is right, you can get a second-hand carb that has been on a 4K, and you really need the cam, the head job and the exhaust to make a difference. Quote

Spot on I've got a 2" exhaust on my blown 5k and that makes 100rwkw. I haven't looked at the site but if it's near $500 your better of chasing a set of twins(I sold my su setup for $450 or 500) and you'll get a bucket load of induction noise awesomeness!!!! Just my 2 cents. Stu. Quote

Evan G Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 28/36 is perfect for a 4k. drive like a spastic on the secondaries and still get 600km outta a tank  Quote
WET.K30 Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 got twin 40mm dcoes on my 4k and i love it so much fun, but don't expect it to ever run as smooth as it did with the stock carb Quote
Kezzar Posted April 1, 2011 Author Report Posted April 1, 2011 (edited) Just making sure, do 32/36 webers have a primary and secondary throats, and if so at what percentage of power bandwidth does the secondary throat open up? Edited April 1, 2011 by Kezzar Quote
