Ke30 4 350 Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 So anyone use webers? they make a carby kit for my rola and just wondering what everyones opinion is. Any hands-on reviews? Quote
jono1986 Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 Only fully effective with a Cam and Extractors, one better is porting the head out as much as possible. Quote
ae95- wagon kid Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 good carbies, some like the 40's don't hold a tune all that well, not a problem if you know how to tune them :) 32/36's are a great carb but as said above cannot be used to full potential without adequate mods. i personally prefer dellorto for street use but i don't want to start a weber vs dellorto war. :) Quote
Evan G Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 28/36 is a great mixture of fuel economy and performance once at full throttle 1 Quote
Ke30 4 350 Posted April 5, 2011 Author Report Posted April 5, 2011 well the kit for my car is a twin (or single) DCOE 48 side draft. what does everyone think of this, for road usage... fuel economy isn't really a factor as i don't care. i would be getting exhaust mods, porting, cams and the kit includes a new intake manifold. the kits contain 2 x 48 DCOE Weber Carburettors 1 x Redline Manifold to suit (12-3062) 1 x LP1000 performance linkage kit 2 x Soft mount kits 2 x sets manifold studs 1 x fuel banjo T-piece (optional) and in the config i want are AUD$2,057.32 what do u reckon, good value? Trev Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 changing to a 5k and i can either get a 48, 45, or 40 I would not be running twins on either. Quote
Evan G Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 there wont be enough air speed to run those! Quote
Trev Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 i would be getting exhaust mods, porting, cams there wont be enough air speed to run those! Upgrade to a 7k for that. Rubbish. Quote
Evan G Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 Rubbish. if taken to an extreme, the carb could be so large as to not draw in any gas at all because of not enough air speed. Fuel in the carb has two forces working on it: gravity and atmospheric pressure. Speeding up the airflow through a venturi causes the air to have a high pressure on one side and a lower pressure on the other. It is the pressure differential that is strong enough to overcome the force of gravity, and push fuel through the main jets. If airflow is too slow, there will be no fuel flow, such as there is no flow when the engine is stopped. Quote
daggers57 Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 While we're at it. What would be the biggest twin side drafts anyone would run on a hot 5k? (Supercharged). I have no idea as I have always worked with down drafts (mainly Holleys). Sorry to the OP for butting in on your topic. P.S. I have found a company in the US (Webercarbsdirect.com) very cheap, (45dcoe US$349.95)just sent them an email to see if they will post to Aus. Will post on here if/when I get an answer. Quote
