hey guys, has anyone ever put an RB engine in a corolla? and is it legal?

HAH! fooled yas all.

no this is not a thread about an RB engine in a corolla, this is about "RB corolla", this racecar i saw out at lakeside raceway on saturday, yesterday, 28th may.

thought you K motor nuts would find it interesting.

all information can be found here:

http://www.johnsredcar.net/

with some very good information, as well as a diary of the restoration.

essentially its an awesome open wheeler from the 1970s, running a 3k engine on av gas (10:1 compression apparently), twin carbys apparnetly making around 130hp, and it sounded tough...

i had a chat to the guy who owned it, he seemed knowledgable, mentioned that it used to be a 2k i think.

a few pics i took of it, but there are better ones on that website above.

1930 lotus 7??? I knew Colin Chapman was a genius, but designing cars when he was 2 years old. :laff: Sorry Dave

I think this may be the car TE278U has helped out on?

:bash: Talk to a local engineer or your road authority..... oh wait... I see what you did there! lol :laff:

That thing is awesome! According to the site it weighs 400kgs (which for 130hp is pretty good).

Cool. Looks like another 623, very cool. I snapped a few pics of a blue 3k powered 623 recently. Very cool cars but will set you back 30 grand or more for a full rqce ready one.

this isn't the car that he helps on. saw that car and two other over the weekend at winton. two running K engines (1100 to keep in the class) and one running a 3K on twin 48mm webers. talked to one these guys about redlines and he said between 8500 and 9000 rpm. wow.

Have seen a number of similar looking K-engined open wheelers at our local (SA) Collingrove hillclimb - they still hold regular events there so I'll try to get some happy snaps and info next time we head out.
