After taking my stuts out yesterday to lower my car down,

I have realised my steering now has a crazy pull to the left... almost went into a mailbox when I took my hands off the wheel lol

could this because by putting the strut top bolts into the wrong holes. Where the strut bolts into under the bonnet?

Or because the steering rack was moved when I took the stut out, and a simple wheel alignment will fix it?

thanks in advance guys

If you mean replaced stock struts with lowered struts + a bit of negative camber then...

Definately needs a wheel alignment. Whenever you change the suspension geometry you need to get a new wheel alignment

if you are confident that you bolted everything back together....then its wheel alignment issues.

when front suspension compresses you get a toe change on your wheel. So if you lower the car....your wheel alignment at static height changes, which is what you are experiencing.

you can do a pretty good job of wheel alignment in your garage. there was a thread around about this no long ago.

but yeah best to spend the $50 and get it aligned at a tyre shop.

just for future reference, does it matter which bolt goes into what hole. At the top of the stut?

Aha! it all makes sense now.. Don't know the answer to your question though.. All I know is when I did it I just made sure they were the same as each other ( they had paint markings on them). I just faced them both inwards so they were the same.. I don't think it matters though. :hmm:

so in theroy, I can undo the three top bolts. and rotate them back to the correct hole without removing the stut from the car?

because I have old photos showing which bolt goes where, so if I follow that it should hopefully correct the camber. haha ill just wing it

it can matter if they are designed to give you more camber or castor. ie the strut top not mounted in the center of the 3 bolts.

I.e AE82 TwinCam front strut tops, can be rotated to give more castor :)

Top hats on ke3x and ke5x series don't need to go back into the exact hole it was unbolted from (unlike ke7x. The top has 3 holes exatly the same length away from the centre point. Think of it as a rim but just with three bolts. I'm religious with wheel alignments, any time I change the front suspension set up I go straight down and get a wheel alignment just to be safe.
