AE92_rolla Posted August 11, 2011 Report Posted August 11, 2011 hey guys just purchased a 4k water pump and installed it however the new one has a smaller mounting plate for the pulley :S therefore i can't get it to mount. I was going to make a adapter plate but that would push the pulley out forwards by 2-3mm depending on the thickness of the metal i use. here are pics of the pulley on the old pump and then the new to show the difference, are there different pulleys around? will an adapter plate be alrite? cheers Quote
ke70dave Posted August 11, 2011 Report Posted August 11, 2011 (edited) yah i found there was 2 different types of water pump. one to suit a solid fan, and one to suit the fluid coupling fan. there was also 2 different fan pulleys, as the two different pumps had different offsets? which made the belt not line up? also i suggest against adapter plate, unless your quite good on a lathe. As if you get it slightly off centre it will destroy your new water pump's bearings pretty quick. better off just getting the right pump. Edited August 11, 2011 by ke70dave Quote
Taz_Rx Posted August 11, 2011 Report Posted August 11, 2011 So is this in a KE70? If so you probably have a ke55 style water pump. Flick $20 my way to cover postage and I'll send you a ke55 style pulley in an express bag. Quote

Taz_Rx Posted August 11, 2011 Report Posted August 11, 2011 Yeah also be aware your ke70 fan won't fit on this pump! Got a thermo fan? Might be a good time to look into it if not. Quote
