  1. It isnt installed in the picture but the wheel arch needs massaging to get it in, i have cable clutch still so it looks like it will fit fine
  2. Haha yeah I'm a mechanic at the shop you saw the 1zz at, yeah its a shitty box but will do for now just to get it running and then go to a w-series. I'm more worried about the diff at this stage more than anything
  3. Hello, been lurking on here for awhil and Thought id make an as i go thread of my build I'm doing. Basically accumulated lots of parts and then ran out of time and motivation to do it but circumstances vhange and now i have time to build it! Its a ke55 coupe thats copping a 20 valve silvertop with a k50 a series gearbox, run by a haltech sprint 500, 1zzfe coils, Hurricane 20valve headers Carter black lift pump 044 feed pump, Sard fuel reg, Some china surge tank, Reset rear leaves, S13 Silkroad front coilovers hubs and brakes, Speedflow braided brake lines and shit, K-tuned inline universal thermostat housing, PWR oil cooler, Oil filter relocation Ke70 booster with s15 master cylinder, Ke70 rack and pinion, I'm at the stage of deciding what to do with the cooling system but most probably will go with modifying the standard shit and putting weld ons on it and running speedflow of it, Dizzycap has been cut down and modified to clear firewall, Thermostat housing has been gutted and is being milled and welded, Waterpump is going to be modified and pipes welded on to make it run to the radiator, With the s13 shit i discoveredthat even at max camber adjustment at the strut there is still a fair bit of neg camber so next step it to shorten the silvia control arms and box them. Is sort of a slow 'as i find time' project at this stage but atleast the ball is rolling now after alot of ʞ©$ɟing around haha. Some pics of when i got it and how it is now, will keep the updates coming. Cheers Nitin
  4. yeah thats what I was thinking, but i already have the 3tc block? I figured it was relatively easy to make it work but i justed wanted to be safe before spending money on getting the block bored out. I was initially looking at the 2tgeu head but all the ones I had seen were fairly expensive, and figured for the cost difference I could get a significant porting done on the 3tgte head through work. I got the 3tgte for next to nothing which is why i've decided to stick with it. also had a good chat to our engine builder today and hes done a couple of 3tgte motors in the past so I'm gonna try and persevere with it for the time being. I mean later on if i feel the need to go to a 2tg head it'll be a reasonably easy affair as i already have the required components? Thanks for your help bruce, greatly appreciated mate
  5. hey guys, I'm in the process of building a 3tgte, I've got the 3tgte head, intake and exhaust components, now I'm just wondering is my 3tc block compatible with the head I have? or should I obtain a 3tgte block aswell? the build is going to be extensive eg, valves, pistons, rods etc. any help is greatly appreciated cheers
  6. DONE!!!!!!! drilled new holes in the gbox crossmember and move the gearbox to the left by 1cm and the problem is gone :D cheers for all the help guys really appreciate it
  7. ohk so bit of an update!! also makes this "noisee" upon startup? if i sit in neutral and try to pull the gearbox towards me (pulling on the gearbox through the hole where the rubber cover should be:P ) it also makes this noise? it can't be the tailshaft as the car is in neutral and the tailshaft isnt spinning otherwise i would have no fingers lol. can't be both the gearboxes right? because it does it in neutral aswell? bought them of here :P can't be the clutch side of things because then the clutch wouldnt work? so very very confused
  8. i have no idea what it could be :S guess its time to hand the keto over to the mechanic to figure out what it is :(
  9. nah it selects normally with the clutch, i put it in properly with the flywheel side towards the flywheel, also the clutch plate has a bit the sorta comes out by 1-2cm which goes on the gearbox side. if it was in wrong that bit would hit the spigot bearing and it wouldnt allow the pressure plate on wouldnt it? ohk so it only makes wierd noises in reverse, heavy acceleration and cornering, otherwise its well normal?
  10. cheers for getting the pic man :) helped heaps, ohk so now it takes gears perfect etc etc but a wierd grinding/rubbng noise is evident? took the 5 speed out and put the 4 spd in and it still does it? (not as much) the tailshaft isnt rubbing against the chassis, I'm thinking wheel bearings? or both my boxes are f@$ked?
  11. yeah thats what i thought, so i pulled the box out again and adjusted the pivot further, it now changes gears but only JUST! like wtf could it be? clutch fork has about 15-20mm of freeplay at the gearbox, clutch calbe if adjusted to its max and when I'm driving along and accelerating there is a weird grinding noise which is apparently the release bearing rubbing against the pressure plate?
  12. Alrite, so I adjusted the little thingo, andit worked :-D just wanna kno how much free movement shuld the clutch fork have? Because atm it moves half way (in the slot on the side of the gearbox) them the bearing makes contact with the pressure plate :-D woohoo! But just wanna kno should the clutch fork have less free play then this? Cheers
  13. clutch forl comes all the way to the front of the hole? that is a very good point my friend!! haha i will have too look in the morning :) i hope it is!!!
  14. yeah man thats all it comes out?? the clutch only feels like a proper clutch for about 1cm of the pedal push? rest is just free movement :S springs are all good and everthing too? clutch pate is in properly with the side that says "flywheel side" facing the fywheel. ummmmmmmmmmmm it was all hooked up right when i pulled it apart again so the only thing i reckon is to space the release bearing out by 1 cm, the bearing JUSTTT makes contact with the pressure plate (can tell by the marks on the fins) first i thought they may of given me the wrong pressure plate but it measured up perfect to the stock one i got? i am verrrrrrrrrrrrrry confused :S flywheel has been lightened but only on the other side, clutch side only had a rsurface done
  15. ohk so ive just done a manual conversion in my ke70 and the clutch wont work? adjusted the cable, put spacers in cos it was too loose and everything! gearbox works cos i can put it in first then start it and take off, just change gears in the right revs, but i wanna know if there is a different clutch fork available or something? because the release bearing can't make contact with the pressure plate, i was gonna mod the clutch fork but thought id ask on here first. cheers guys, any help is appreciated
  16. slight update, bought a k50 box to replace the k40 which came in the conversion kit. auto box and shaft removed, flywheel lightened down to 6.2kg from 8.1kg all balanced up. auto conversion and k40 are up for sale if any1 is interested
  17. new shoes niggggggah :P hha frots are rays engineering 3 piece work racing, rears are abatis wings :) painted them up all pretty, white bands with "hammertone" metallic blue centres cheers
  18. update, manual conversion purchased and slowly getting cleaned up and installed
  19. update!! new water pump, radiator, thermo fan, sensors, sound system purchased, headunit and amp installed speakers still to go :) hhaha shes regoed and rollin
  20. there is a reason why the cap says "DO NOT OPEN HOT" (or similar) hahah holden drivers
  21. why can't you do it yourself? what if the distances are slightly different in some1 elses car?
  22. yeah got a thermo fan and ally radiator lined up :) wanna fix it and then not have to worry about it again
  23. http://www.spoolimports.com/CatalogueRetrieve.aspx?ProductID=914128&A=SearchResult&SearchID=177256&ObjectID=914128&ObjectType=27 forged rebuild kit, personally id go aftermarket ecu as-well also you may aswell upgrade your fuel system intake/exhaust, head porting etc etc all in all itll cost in excess of roughly 3000-4000 and thats just parts assuming you do the work yourself but even then your gonna need a shop to balance and tune it, do some research man plenty of shit online
