The car will turn over and every now and then sound like its about to fire up but it doesnt. any help would be appreciated thanks Quote
Trev Posted November 9, 2011 Report Posted November 9, 2011 What do you mean by knocked the kill switch? Quote
Alexrx7 Posted November 10, 2011 Author Report Posted November 10, 2011 when i say i knocked it i mean i accidentally knocked the killswitch from on to off with my elbow and cut all the power to the car while it was running. Quote
altezzaclub Posted November 10, 2011 Report Posted November 10, 2011 Can you put a timing light onto the spark plug leads and see that each is getting power?? Quote
Trev Posted November 10, 2011 Report Posted November 10, 2011 What harness setup has the car got? Quote
Alexrx7 Posted November 10, 2011 Author Report Posted November 10, 2011 I'm not to sure what wiring harness it was mostly done by previous owner think its a mix of ke and bigport. could it be any of the fuses in the driver side kick panel i havent checked them yet? Quote
Trev Posted November 10, 2011 Report Posted November 10, 2011 Well the ecu power fuse on the ae82 is the brake light fuse in the kick panel, have a look and see if there are any blown in there. Quote
Alexrx7 Posted November 11, 2011 Author Report Posted November 11, 2011 hey i whent down and checked the car today no fuses are blown in the kick panel could it be the ecu? its sparking and getting fuel because ill get a little firing and the nothing after that so maybe it could be flooded also?? how do you unflood an EFI car hold the throttle open? thanks for the help guys Quote
Alexrx7 Posted November 12, 2011 Author Report Posted November 12, 2011 I was thinking it might be plugs but can they get fouled up that quickly? motor was running perfect before this good spark etc? ill try taking them out today and checking them and also cranking without them in to help dry out the cylinders a bit. Also could anything electrical be damaged from the power being cut off whilst motor running when i bumped the kill switch:(? cheers Quote
Alexrx7 Posted November 15, 2011 Author Report Posted November 15, 2011 alright so i changed spark plugs getting spark what could this be??? fuel pump maybe? Quote
altezzaclub Posted November 15, 2011 Report Posted November 15, 2011 Well, if you have spark then fuel is the next suspect. Can you run an injector into a can and see if you get fuel through? Quote
son of stig Posted November 16, 2011 Report Posted November 16, 2011 Have you tried a starter spray ('start ya bastard' or similar ether based product) through the throttle body? If it starts and runs on that then fuel delivery may well be the culprit. Have you established that you have adequete spark on each cylinder past the fact it has an occasional kick? You could pull a plug and hold it near an earth when cranking. Quote
altezzaclub Posted November 16, 2011 Report Posted November 16, 2011 You could pull a plug and hold it near an earth when cranking. Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! Arrgh! Ouch!.... Yup, that one works! :laff: Quote
