Evan G Posted November 24, 2011 Report Posted November 24, 2011 vac leak or the dash pot holding the butterfly open. give all the linkages a squirt of oil and go for another drive Quote
GJM85 Posted November 24, 2011 Report Posted November 24, 2011 (edited) Check for a build up of dirt and grimy crap on the spring of the accelerator pedal. Where is mounts to the floor. Give it a bath in wd40. It could also be a frayed cable inside the black part. That will stick it good. Usually caused by a kink in the line. Edited November 24, 2011 by GJM85 Quote
BlueKsev Posted November 24, 2011 Report Posted November 24, 2011 (edited) How did it occur? Have you had it apart and put it back together and then it started to stick? Has it just gradually started happening? I used to have this problem with a Weber, the semi-circle bracket which the cable connects to on the carb used to be held on to tight by the nut, and it used to jam whenever it felt like it. I evenually fixed it by swapping a washer for a thinner one to make the bracket not so jammed up. But it was quite a fright when it happens in town amongst traffic... altezzaclub Posted November 24, 2011 Report Posted November 24, 2011 Take the cable off at the carb end and see that the pedal & cable move smoothly & freely. If they do then its in the carb linkages somewhere, or a broken return spring.. Quote
LittleRedSpirit Posted November 28, 2011 Report Posted November 28, 2011 Had this problem once caused by a poorly fitted air filter that made a bit of the plastic filter chassis snap off, fall down the throat of the carb and stick the butterfly open. If you shone a torch down you could see it in there. Removed most of it and then the last bit seemed to go through the motor with no issues. lol. :bash: Quote
