Rob 5000 Posted February 5, 2012 Report Posted February 5, 2012 (edited) We were helping a new twincam owner today to do his timing. He shorted out the wrong wires on the service plug (see pic below) and now the check engine light does not come on and the engine cranks but wont start. We checked all the fuses but still nothing. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks. Edited February 5, 2012 by Rob 5000 Quote
altezzaclub Posted February 5, 2012 Report Posted February 5, 2012 Any spark on a plug if you take it out and crank the motor over?? Can you hear the fuel pump priming?? Either the ECU or dizzy electronics burnt out would be the most likely. You'll have to go right back to the beginning and check everything, fuel, spark, sensors... Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted February 5, 2012 Report Posted February 5, 2012 Fusable link? That's all mine was. Couldn't tell it had fried Quote
Rob 5000 Posted February 5, 2012 Author Report Posted February 5, 2012 Is the fusable link the one of that pack on the postive terminal of the battery? will check the spark, but the no light for check engine makes me think its the computer. Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted February 5, 2012 Report Posted February 5, 2012 Mine was a wire to the positive side. It burned out where it connected and looked fine. I had the same issue, car would crank but not fire. This is in my ke70 with the 4age conversion so unsure on twinky wiring. Quote
Rob 5000 Posted February 6, 2012 Author Report Posted February 6, 2012 Did the check engine light come on when it wasnt firing? Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted February 6, 2012 Report Posted February 6, 2012 Nah because it shorted power to the ECU Quote
Rob 5000 Posted February 6, 2012 Author Report Posted February 6, 2012 Thank you to both of you that took the time to help out. We found it. One of the fuses that looked ok on reinspection was actually blown and she is up and running....big relief :bash: Quote
Rob 5000 Posted March 31, 2012 Author Report Posted March 31, 2012 Ok finally sorted it and thought i'd post so as it might help someone else one day. The loom had a broken wire somewhere in the wiring where the looms goes across where the injectors are. Pulled the loom and all the problems went away, let it or move it slightly and problems were back. Got a 2nd hand loom for $90 problems solved. Quote
