It's my turn for show and tell, so here goes...

1982 'flat front' KE70

Standard 4K engine, all gaskets and hoses replaced; mild cam; oil changed; brakes remachined and so on... Singin' like a biiiird.

As stated, absolutely no rust on the thing anywhere.

Bought it off a panel beater who straightened the body up and painted it this lovely blue (NQX blue to be specific). Immaculate job the guy's done, by far one of the car's greatest qualities.

Standard height springs; standard 13" steelies without hub caps, spray painted a dodgey glossy black, overshadowed however by the stainless wheel trims I picked up at Autobarn for $25 a piece.

New radiator, battery and fuel cap from our friends at Burson's (got the hoses there, too).

Twin pipe muffler off a recent model Civic.

Clock-O dash.

Had a saggy arse in the seat, fixed by an el dodgeo piece of plywood.

Rip in the carpet, crack in the dash. The usual annoyances.

That's enough gabble. Time for some pics!

The centre console has fallen to bits. Needs replacing at some stage.

Nearly 220XXX on the clock. I'm probably not the first P plater to own it either. The speaker cut-outs in the rear, under the carpet, kinda give it away.

Picked up from the wreckers to replace my old wobbly thing. This one also has what the other didn't: a dimmer switch!

Also picked up from wreckers was the fuel door spring. You don't know how much you need such a simple item until it's gone and life is painful without it.

Even in the common areas like the spare wheel well are rust-free. One of, if not THE greatest quality.

Wreckers item. The old tail light shroud was falling to bits and held together with cable ties.

The inertia reel in the old front passenger seat belt was all gunked up and worn, so it'd stay locked up over the smallest shifts in gravity. This one is also from the wreckers.

On the right fan vent, the little adjusting knob had broken so guess where I found another... Here's a hint: The wreckers.

Brand new radiator to replace the old leaky one.

Brand new battery. Old one had died a slow and painful death in storage.

I bought the car without rego/RWC for $4000. Probably only worth 2 or 3 grand, considering I spent over a thousand just getting it on the bloody road! A word of advice: Unless you want to be spending upwards of three or four weeks and several hundred dollars fixing up its bullshit, buy a car with rego/RWC. It'll save you more than just swear jar money.

P.S. Couldn't be arsed compressing the 1MB+ image files and then attaching them via my excruciatingly slow internet connection so the links'll have to do, I'm afraid.

^ Resprays aren't cheap bro, Not much change from $3k from being sprayed alone.. By the time you add bodywork etc to the mix..

That being said she's pretty neat! What's the plans for it? Or just tidy it and keep it stock?

I'm not entirely sure what's next. Early days still. I'm hopefully getting carving head 40 rims soon and they'll be looking pretty nice, but then I'll have to think about guard rolling/flaring to fit them in. They're 16X7 +15 so hopefully just a roll will squeeze them in without damaging the paint too much. Then get some coilovers (relying on you guys and your expertise for that) and get it standing at the right height.

I've heard you can get a twin choke nikki carburetor that bolts straight onto the 4K. An electric fan would perk it up a bit too. Might do that for the time being before some serious thought about engine swaps and whatnot.

One thing's for sure though: I'm keeping her.

I went round to a guy's place to try on some centrelines the other week and they were 14X7 +15 but needed a very slight roll to fit through full spring compression. There's professional places around that heat gun the lip to soften when rolling and they say the paint is not affected by it. I'd rather they do it right than risk ʞ©$ɟing up the guards myself.

It's a bit of a risk getting such flashy rims for my car but I think they'll look really good if the stance is just right. Only one way to find out.
