Hi all,

As the above says,I have stripped the paint off the bonnet of my KE70 and there appears to be rust on the bare metal underneath,this rust? was not visible before I stripped the paint off.

What is the suggested way to deal with this before I prime and topcoat as I certainly don't want it coming through the new paint.

I thought maybe spray with rust killer,let it dry,wipe away the excess and prime but I am open to better ideas if any.

Surface, or pitted/flaky?

I had tiny rust worms or spiderwebs under the paint when I stripped it back to metal. I treated them with some phosphoric rustkill, washed it thoroughly & dried it with a hairdryer, and then undercoated as usual.

 

Nothing has come back yet, three years...
