  1. Thanks for the update,I haven't proceeded any further with this at present, busy with other things but did manage to get an "empty" reading of 140ish ohms when testing between the sender connection and earth but as you say, can't get the unit out to check "full" with the tank mounted in situ. The SAAS unit quotes 160 empty and 33 full as one of its pre-set options, apparently appropriate to a Honda setting so I may be able to go with this and adjust the float lever to give me a near enough, good enough solution as its really only the "empty" position that I am overly concerned with and as long as I get an idea of flow rate so that I know at which point I need to start being concerned,I think it may work. Anyway, think I will buy one, have a fiddle and see how I go.
  2. The issue is that I have fitted the KE tank into a non original project vehicle that is having a custom dash and as such can't use an original gauge,it is all custom aftermarket, hence the question. The SAAS unit is only 52mm which is smaller than I wanted but if it does the job will go with it but there are better options but they have fixed output which is why I was asking regards the ohms output. Seeing as the top of the tank is just accessible looks like I may have to grab a multimeter and try to do some measuring,I don't want to fill the tank yet but I may be able to get an "empty" reading and go from there. Thanks again,Pete
  3. Thanks for the input,I have noticed that SASS make a 52mm aftermarket fuel gauge with the option of variable settings to use with standard senders although they do not list the 55 specifically, they do list "japanese cars" as one of their options so I am giving this some consideration. I don't really mind if it is not 100% accurate as long as I can get to "near enough good enough."
  4. Hey there, looking to replace a fuel gauge with an aftermarket unit, does anyone know the ohm ratings from low to half to full for a standard KE55 tank?
  5. Hi,am wanting to know if the rear housing (the extension that holds the gearstick linkages) of a KE70 4 spd gearbox is removeable and can have a shorter housing from another (KE35 or KE55 or similiar) box fitted to replace it thus moving the gearstick forward without having to change the whole box for something else? Its a rather urgent question so hope someone can help, thanks,Pete
  6. Hi there, was just wondering if it is possible to remove the top black extension piece on a KE70 gearstick without doing to much damage to anythhing,I need to alter the curve and throw directionto clear my handbrake and seat bases so want to remove the black section and fabricate a new shaped piece to replace it.
  7. Damn, well that wont work,20mm to short centre to centre,I was sure I was told it would fit. Anyway, would anyone know if the RT80 would be the same as the 104's? I was given a model name that would fit what I wanted exactly but I have forgotten it but I was pretty sure it was a rt80 or rt104, I need 1020mm centres on the spring pad mounts, maybe someone has an idea, being fitted to a non toyota/corona car that has been fitted with a toyo engine..
  8. many thanks, will go out now and check against what I have in mind.Pete
  9. Thanks Rob,that seems a bit narrow but will wait for confirmation.
  10. Hi guys, apologies as I know its not specifically corolla related so wasnt surte where to put it but I know a few of you have Coronas so I'm hoping someone can give me a dimension from centre to centre of the spring pads on the rear axle of a RT104 Corona? Thanks in advance for any help you can give.Pete
  11. Need a quick bit of help with some dimensions please- regards a ke55, want to know overall width of front crossmember, drum face to drum face and dimension between the chassis mounting bolts, front and rear AND between left rail and right rail. Thanks
  12. so the pedal only seems to go half way down but do they still work, does it take a lot of pressure to push it half way down, any leaks, loss of fluid etc.?
  13. Maybe I misunderstand the statement but from my understanding mod plates are most definitely needed in victoria as are preliminary discussions in principle and ongoing inspections during build process.
  14. Love my morris minors, its a pity your stripping down Motary,my opinion only as I have a thing for custom morries!
  15. Motary is the name of a black rotary powered morris minor used to be in Melbourne, now I know this is a corolla forum but is that the way your heading?
  16. Got to say,I love your shed, boy am I jealous. Good luck with the build!
  17. Sorry mate, the boot lid on the farm was a wash out,a rusted POS.
  18. I might be able to help you out with a boot lid as I'm going up to my uncles farm in albury tomorrow and he has 2 of these I think out in the paddock. They are rusty but the boots etc. may have survived will have a look and let you know if ok.
  19. Maybe try running a temporary earth wire (heavy duty wire) direct from the battery to the starter body just to rule out bad earthing issues,if its still slow, yes Id consider a new starter.
  20. wishful thinlking me thinks!
  21. Three in two days WOW! I was looking today and decided that rear flares and standard front guards just did not work so decided to rectify the issue. The reason for the second pic is that I felt the guard was a bit floppy with the edge gone so wanted to give it a little re-inforcing before I bog it up...
  22. Not retired, forced out of work by an injury but no compensation so can only do a little bit at a time as I save up,should have just concentrated on 1 project at a time but they all have their benefits and I can go from 1 to the other as the feeling or finances takes me. And at the moment neither is taking me very far!
  23. Yes,I'm still working on it between 3 other projects so no time really to post pics or updates but anyhow, have been stripping and preparing drivers side for prime and paint, will just work my way around and lay on an initial base coat of color to protect all the body prep then will lay on a final coat or two in one hit. Converting the boot lock to cable release and removing the key/filling key hole.Just want to work towards getting everything painted one color so I can reg it,then I might really start messing around with it,between the other projects, who's going to pay any attention to a 50+ putting around in an old ke70,no matter whats under the bonnet..as long as I behave myself,we'll see.Another update probably in a couple of months again!
