  1. Mate, these guys have rightly screwed you solid to the floor and ought to be totally disgusted regards their behaviour and conscience, however' I have to say that I admire you for your "cop it on the chin"and get on with it attitude.I gather that once upon a time this was a really well built car but has been screwed with by later owners,I am sure that by the sound of it things will be back to good shape in no time. Good Luck!
  2. If you don't have one, then anything is better than nothing, just pinch one of a car at the wreckers and splice it into the line but make sure you solder it up properly and securely, seems the easiest option.
  3. very cool!!!
  4. Pls see my add in wanted to buy for TA22 parts.
  5. So whats the big deal about 3k big port heads. It wont be for sale as its on an engine I want to use and I'm not interested in pulling it off.
  6. In reference to 4K heads, what is the difference,if any, between a head that has a welch plug at the back of it and one that has a metal plate and screws at the rear. Are they both 4K heads?
  7. Sorry, should have said,4k and 4spd.don't want a heavy clutch as I have a dud back and pushing a heavy clutch stuffs it up.
  8. Can anyone recommend a good standard clutch plate and pressure plate kit and where to get it from or should I just go to somewhere like Repco and order whatever it is they sell.I don't really want a heavy duty type set up as it is not neccessary.Opinions appreciated.
  9. Maybe I confused people, the bearing came out of the manual donor engine and I am putting the box from that behind what used to be an auto so although I could have just gone out and bought what I needed and fitted it to the auto crank end I wanted to be sure I had the right part so wanted the original as a sample. I had read in various places some saying it was a 6001 and others saying that if you went and got it from repco they gave you the wrong one so I wanted to be sure.
  10. So got the old spigot bearing out easy peasy, just filled the hole behind it with grease and then drove in a tight fitting drill bilt backwards with a hammer and the pressure popped it straight out, just had to re pack the grease a couple of times as it moved itsway out. A nice trick to keep in mind, now I can take it as a sample but it has 6001 printed on it so that is probably enough to get the right one.
  11. Thanks for that,so nose towards gearbox and replace bearing, got it!
  12. I know its been asked so pls be tolerant and read the question first. I have a 4k and auto that I am changing to manual, question 1,when I was dismantleing the 4k manual donor I dropped the clutch and pressure plate, now I can't remember, with the clutch plate does the splined nose point toward the flywheel or toward the pressure plate? Question 2,I know I have to fit the bush from the end of the manual crank (think its called the pivot bush?) into the end of the auto crank to locate the gearbox shaft, how do you get it out or do I just buy a new one front parts supply and tap it in when I fit the manual flywheel? Thanks for reading,Pete
  13. can you buy petrol caps with a vent to release pressure?
  14. thanks
  15. Ok.a friend of mine has bought a TA22 celica,it has no engine to speak of although he does have bits and pieces of a 2T but really of no use. Wanted to know what the engine options were for this car and any suggestions about any other engine that me be a good option. Not interested in having to get it engineered for any reason, just want to get it on the road with least amount of cost and hassle but reliable. He does have access to a silvertop 4age but I assume that would require engineering and I'm not sure if it would suit the car anyway as I assume the celica to be a bit heavier and therefore a bit more effort for the age to move along.Anyway,if you have a comment pls post it and if you have an appropriate engine for sale pls let us know,we're in Melbourne.
  16. thanks
  17. Hi,sorry if there is a lack of info but its not my project and there is a question from the owner. He has bought a ta22 celica which has come with parts of a 2t motor, its not complete but we do have an inlet manifold with twin carbs fitted.Question is will this manifold fit a 4age,he can get a 4age silver top for $500 with loom and computer included but he likes carbs so this is why we are asking.Any info appreciated, also if anyone knows of a good place in Melbourne to get ta22 parts, especially a drivers side guard and a rust repair/replacement section for the rear parcelshelf. Thanks.
  18. certainly is plenty of room if you are going to fab yourself custom extractors etc. but if you try to use the original ex. manifold the angles the engine pipe has to be to line up with the original manifold outlet are quite extreme,I know this because I already have a 4k set up in another minor and that was my main issue.Just thought that by uprighting a little I could reduce the angle and use an original exhaust. By the way, nice pic,I like how you set the alternator up.
  19. The 4k will fit in a minor,it is done quite often but yes,the datsun is the more common conversion. It will fit mounted at its proper angle but it just makes the transition of the exhaust from the manifold very tight, often people fit custom made extractors but I was looking for an easy out,how lazy of me!!
  20. A morris minor that has hydraulic dampers as part of the suspension and they are mounted in the engine bay
  21. Fitting the engine in another car and the carb almost fouls on the suspension and the ex. manifold could use a little more room to fit the pipes so thought that if I upright it about half way it would give me clearance.
  22. My question is how far can you upright a 4k before you need to do any other alterations such as adjusting the oil pick up,sump, etc.
  23. Thanks heaps!
  24. Can some one tell me if you can and how to find a record of personal conversations as I was talking to some one through a personal conversation but the notifications came to my email account,I accidentally deleted the emails but I'm hoping there is a record of them on the rollaclub site. Thanks
  25. don't think you need to touch any of the engine bay or starter wiring, all you need too do is to bypass the neutral start saftey switch that is located under the cover for the auto T bar, unfortunately I can't tell you which wires these are, this you will have to sort out with a meter or a wiring diagram
