madKE35coupe Posted February 14, 2013 Report Posted February 14, 2013 Hey guys and gals I have recently gotten my ke70 registered, and I have noticed when out on the highway it tends to 'hunt' a bit once the speed levels out. Any clues as to why it could be doing this? Quote
LittleRedSpirit Posted February 14, 2013 Report Posted February 14, 2013 Maybe a dirty carb or possibly vacuum leak. Perhaps a problem related to timing advancement with rpm. If it only happens at highway speed consider that wind and or g forces could be moving poorly secured wires and hoses around and grounding them out. Is the timing advance working smoothly? Is it losing power when it hunts, is it surging or dieing out? Quote
madKE35coupe Posted February 14, 2013 Author Report Posted February 14, 2013 No it doesn't lose power or die at all. I have noticed occasionally when I go to take off and it splutters a bit Like it's copping too much fuel. I'm going to a mate's place tomorrow night for new plugs/points/service, so I will run over the timing and make sure it's all sweet Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted February 14, 2013 Report Posted February 14, 2013 I'm leaning towards vacuum leak if its spluttering like that. Does it idle fine? Quote
madKE35coupe Posted February 14, 2013 Author Report Posted February 14, 2013 When you first start it and run it it idles well. Once it has warmed up a bit it sounds like it has a really lumpy cam Quote
madKE35coupe Posted February 14, 2013 Author Report Posted February 14, 2013 :( I hate trying to find vacuum leaks Quote
LittleRedSpirit Posted February 14, 2013 Report Posted February 14, 2013 (edited) Spray some mist towards the inlet from a spray bottle and see where it gets sucked in. However hearing the extra info, you might have fuel intermittently coming through the carb. Might be time for a carb overhaul. Are you getting good mileage or is it a bit down for what you expected? Might well be extra fuel coming through the carb in squirts. Might just be dirty jets. Edited February 14, 2013 by LittleRedSpirit Quote
madKE35coupe Posted February 14, 2013 Author Report Posted February 14, 2013 It has actually been pretty good on fuel. But I will check itout ttomorrow night when I do the plugs and points Quote
