Also, custom steering rack.

I have a Triumph2500 with a Leyland P76 4.4L V8 and a toyota 5 speed in it.

Modded: tunnel, steering rack, bonnet, radiator mounts, engine mounts, cross member, fuel system, wiring.

See if you can get your hands on an interesting engine though. LS1 is a bit boring.

Interesting engines often have a heap of issues with parts availability and lack of performance options though.

In soemthign you are looking to "race" having something with decent parts availability is a mass consideration (well, should be if you are wise enough)

Theres definitely some interesting old pommy alloy V8s around the place,

1UZFE would keep it in the family, but I doubt you'd ever fit the thing in the engine bay (the quad cam heads are a pain in the butt)

If you wanted to be REALLY interesting, an early pinto motor (the type that the escort club cars are running) are easy to find (would need to import though) and there are a shitload of off the shelf bits for them in the states.... wouldnt be another one like it here.

Hey what grill is that ? It looks awesome!

My corona was an import and yeah came out with an 8r but I made the twin carb manifold to turn it into the 8tb, super hard to find bits that's why I'd recomend the 18r motor came out in celica, corona, hilux and a great fit with a gods amount of torque!

If your serious about a big motor I looked into every thing you need to run a remote brake and clutch cylinder, make a custome sump as you look under the car that stupid big front/mid crossmember is in the way for most, and the drag link on the rear, so dry custom sump is needed and the engine mounts, the inner guards cut to fit most exhausts to breath, and then you will have to change the gear box and rear crossmember anyways!

The weight difference over the front axel for the 1jz is rediculous compared to a 4 cylinder so it won't turn into corners, so I ruled out that option as Mine handles like its on rails!

If I had the time and glens welding skills and patients I'd look at a holden 202 tripple carb coz there cheap and mod the crap out of the car but hey depends what you want out of the Rona.

How do you rate a ca18 ?

ca18 is a great engine. My brother's got one sitting in the shed. Looked at putting it in my RT80 but cbf doing all the necessary firewall/crossmember mods to fit it in.

If you do put one in yours, I'd love to see it! :)

Also can anyone point me in the right direction do the carb rebuild kit for the 1970 rt80 corona ?

This is what I used for mine.

If you're in SA, there's an RT104 with an 18R on Gumtree http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/hackham/cars-vans-utes/rt104-toyota-corona/1015972186 But it's being scrapped on tuesday so be quick if you want it. Ridiculously cheap at $150 even for the rust bucket that it is.

18R should be a fairly simple bolt in job.
