love ke70 Posted March 2, 2006 Report Posted March 2, 2006 hey guys. in need of a car trailer for a day or two so i can take the car to get intercooler piping and exhaust made up. wouldnt mind paying a small fee, and leaving a deposit. I'm in yatala. southside of brissie. but don't mind driving to the city or down the coast to get it as it will be cheaper than hiring a trailer to get the car out there and hiring another trailer to bring it back. even if you could borrow it off someone you know etc. i am trust worthy, don't worry there :) cheers guys. hope you can help out! regards, andrew
Biggo Posted March 2, 2006 Report Posted March 2, 2006 Car trailers arnt really that expensive to hire. Last time we rented one it was like $50 for 6 hours so yair....
love ke70 Posted March 2, 2006 Author Report Posted March 2, 2006 the cheapest place ive found is 50 ish for 3 hrs, and a bit more for 6 problem is thats over a hundred dollars to hire it to take car there, and bring car back when work is done. I'm just trying to avoid that cost :)
love ke70 Posted March 2, 2006 Author Report Posted March 2, 2006 4 problems with that. A) car will be unregistered B) i can't afford the fine if i get caught C) i only have one point left D) i don't know if it will start now then, who has a trailer i could borrow?
Dan Posted March 2, 2006 Report Posted March 2, 2006 In WA I know we can get permits for driving a car to and from a place of service/work/whatnot, they are 1 day licences for $16.50... I presume that perhaps you may be able to get a similar service in Brisbane? If not, good luck with the trailer mate.
Jason Posted March 2, 2006 Report Posted March 2, 2006 (edited) bah I'm temeted to make my own exhust :) medral benders arnt that expensive hehehee just take it there to get welded up Edited March 2, 2006 by Jason
Redwarf Posted March 2, 2006 Report Posted March 2, 2006 Hi, sorry I didn't get back to you the other day, been a bit busy. Yes, I have a car trailer. No, I don't lend it. Sorry. Normally I'd be happy to tow it around for you, however, life is a bit hectic at the moment, and have zero time to spare. You can probably get a tow truck for around the $40 to $50 mark. Remember, if you get a trailer, you've got to be able to tie it down, too.
love ke70 Posted March 2, 2006 Author Report Posted March 2, 2006 day permits from qld transport are more expensive than hiring a trailer for 3 hrs from what i recall when i looked into when i got my first car. jason, if you buy a mandrel bender ill be more than happy to pay you to do some work for me :) thanks red, no worries about the no reply. i know what its like. if some spare time just "pops up" and you have nothing better to do with it, let me know and ill do my best to give you something to do :) by "hire a towtruck" are we talking actually being able to hire the truck and drive it round myself. or get a tow company to come and tow it for me? by tie it down...are you talking about tying the car onto the trailer or have i missed something? in all my previous car trailer experiences we just get on there, leave the chain on the car with a little slack and put the handbrake on. havnt had any issues as yet cheers for the help guys
Redwarf Posted March 2, 2006 Report Posted March 2, 2006 Bloke comes along, bloke winches car, bloke drives away. Easy. :) Dude, you shouldn't use the chain to hold a car, PARTICULARLY on a hire trailer. Tie downs are a must. Trust me.
love ke70 Posted March 2, 2006 Author Report Posted March 2, 2006 okies, ill look into that option. thanks :) we don't use the chain to hold it. its there just incase the car gets a bit lively and decides to slide around the chain will stop it moving. but so far the handbrake has held all of them in place ill keep it in mind tho and use tiedowns if i borrow someones trailer :)
Raven Posted March 2, 2006 Report Posted March 2, 2006 Having your car bounce off the trailer would be a sucky experience. Rope around the rear axle and tie it down and rope around front tow hooks and tie it down. Bobs your uncle....or auntie if he's a cross-dresser!
love ke70 Posted March 2, 2006 Author Report Posted March 2, 2006 cheers for that. i was wondering what the best way would be :) knowing my uncle (we don't talk to him anymore coz hes a f**king tosser that id love to bash) he probably does cross dress. his wifes guts too big for him to know what shes hiding down there anyway. ok andrew, breathe in, breathe out anywho.....if anyone has a trailer, would be great :)
