nerfbat Posted March 9, 2015 Author Report Posted March 9, 2015 HAHA... Hopefully, today i can upload pics, if they uncrate her. After all this interest, i am worried you will all be disappointed... Quote
nerfbat Posted March 10, 2015 Author Report Posted March 10, 2015 (edited) OK, time to confess. As some of the R.C guys saw the pics on my Facebook today I'll start with my review copied from a Bike page on Facebook: I went to the Boyd Yung Street 500 Reveal on the 26th feb, booked a test ride, right then and there. got the call and off we went this arvo. It felt more nimble than an iron 883, and had a lower center of gravity. the power was nothing to write home about, but the bike felt faster than the iron for sure, power/weight ratio? this thing felt at least 20kgs lighter . the foot position felt slightly more forward than the std mid mount controls on most harleys. which felt fine with my short legs. it reminds me of a mini V Rod. I reckon i would use one as a commuter for sure. nimble, easy to manouver with enough grunt through any of the 6 gears to accelerate out of trouble when needed. I would definitely get the aftermarket exhaust ASAP. as the std one sounded like any other 500cc. my 2c review They un crated her and sent me a couple pics I ordered the aftermarket exhaust, a Screamin' Eagle Night stick, but it wont be in til the end of the month(they will fit it for free when it arrives) I chose it as i love the look of the classic Super Trap single exhausts and it looks and sounds just fine Edited March 10, 2015 by nerfbat Quote
nerfbat Posted March 10, 2015 Author Report Posted March 10, 2015 The wife said I have to keep this one for 5 years too, if i got one...lol Plans are: Exhaust which is coming Day maker headlight kit as i work til late hrs now. Will think of more Quote
kickn5k Posted March 11, 2015 Report Posted March 11, 2015 It is classed as a motorcycle, except for the purists of the brand. Meh, the purists say the "skirtster" isn't a harley or a motorcycle. I was a couple of days away from putting a deposit on a '48, then I got the call for the rgv's. Quote
nerfbat Posted March 11, 2015 Author Report Posted March 11, 2015 love the 48's Stu..! nearly committed to one of them about 6 mths ago, but think their tank size was tiny? the only drawback on such a great looking rig And just got back from the dealers..! I was seriously going to buy a large backpack for work once the bike came through. they throw one in with the deal..! SCORE 2 year roadside assist. 2 year unlimited KM warranty. The Screamin' Eagle Nightstick will be in at the end of the month. Will try to time the fitting of it, with the 1600k service. Heading to Mt Glorious/Somerset Dam(we do a 400k route approx.) this weekend with a mate, if anyone has a bike and keen? Quote
B-Lugg Posted March 11, 2015 Report Posted March 11, 2015 (edited) Matte black and has purists willing to write off a model... Is it some form of Harley? Yay. That is one beautiful bike! Cannot wait to pick up a bike as I've just finished my RE licensing. Edited March 11, 2015 by B-Lugg Quote
nerfbat Posted March 11, 2015 Author Report Posted March 11, 2015 ah awesome mate. and yes you win the cookie..! :-) definitely check these out hey, take one for a spin. Quote
nerfbat Posted March 26, 2015 Author Report Posted March 26, 2015 These Clubman bars arrived today and these bar end mirrors Same as i had on my black Zucati Zed 50 Ordered from Third Gear, and took 3 days to get here. Amazing service Will be fitting them over the weekend and take a few pics Quote
nerfbat Posted March 26, 2015 Author Report Posted March 26, 2015 (edited) and Hey Stu, have you seen WildThang's 48? It's my inspiration for this build Rest of my plans are: Get the V & H Nightstick exhaust fitted as soon as it arrives(Rang today, still not here) Get Evan's Trim Shop to cut down my existing seat, custom fab it to a single seater, with some red piping/stitching and something cool. Got onto a guy in town who can fab up some custom forward controls for me, for approx $500. Will have to wait for a while for that. Something i have also started to look into as a long term plan/no rush, is to import a 750cc engine or barell/piston kit from O/Seas Edited June 18, 2016 by nerfbat Quote
kickn5k Posted March 26, 2015 Report Posted March 26, 2015 Yeah man that was one of the 48's that had me looking into one. I had tested a heap of S/H hogs while I was looking to buy. Mate has a modded street bob, I'd had a go of a night train and an ultra glide, the 48 handles way better than all of the skinny wheel bikes put together. I have been asked to test a 500 this weekend for a mate, I have to say I'm a pretty excited!! Quote
nerfbat Posted March 27, 2015 Author Report Posted March 27, 2015 ah awesome mate..! Let me know your thoughts, hey..! Quote
kickn5k Posted March 28, 2015 Report Posted March 28, 2015 (edited) So my mate ended up ordering a black denim street 500, like yours Zowie. Test ride was awesome other than being a bit damp, I could ride one daily no worries. They are pretty much on par with an 883 sporty, definatly not lacking punch for a LAMS bike. They offered me a test on a 72, I had to decline as I probably would have bought one, love the look of em. Edited March 28, 2015 by kickn5k Quote

nerfbat Posted March 28, 2015 Author Report Posted March 28, 2015 (edited) Clubman bars and bar-end mirrors fitted Before pics and after removed pillion pegs, seat strap. Next is to re-mould the seat and add some red, white or grey piping/stitching. and look at fender eliminators or this tail tidy Harley Davidson Street 750 Fender Eliminator KIT | eBay tho i am not too happy with that look, wanted an older style cafe tail SUGGESTIONS? thanks for your time Edited March 29, 2015 by nerfbat Quote
B-Lugg Posted March 28, 2015 Report Posted March 28, 2015 I saw one of these parked up at a cafe this morning on my way to work. Tough looking bike. Mirrors are a huge improvement! Also not the biggest fan of that kit, just looks a bit tacky and cheap IMO. Agreed with the cafe style route. Anything you can do with the front indicators to neaten them up a little too? Quote
